  • I spend more money than...

    ...insert group here.

Pretty common phrase by EWs. Had one couple tonight that was ranting and raving about how it wasn't fair we were making them move their motorcycle (that was parked on the sidewalk right by the hotel entrance) just because of a wedding party. I mean how dare we take the side of the wedding party over her and her husband who, along with their 50 friends, spend more money at our hotels than any wedding ever and they've lived in our hotels for years and blah blah blah. She went on for several minutes complaining about the injustice. It helped that she had been drinking heavily for a couple hours before this happened.

What actually happened: The Asst. General Manager asked them to move their bike about 30 feet under the front awning and off the side walk because he was worried with 3 drunken weddings going on someone might mess with the bike since it was parked right by the smoking area. Of course what she heard was we were on the side of the wedding people.

Oh yea, and she also said we don't need to worry someone damaging her bike, they'd worry about it. Yea, sure, until it gets damaged sitting out front of our property, then it'll be all about how we owe them money. Ugh. We finally told her it was a fire lane violation and that shut her up.

O_o Uhm, as I understand it, it's illegal in most places to park a motor vehicle of any type on a sidewalk... specifically because it's for *walking* on, not parking on. What an EW.

I hate when people pull the amount of money they spend at your store/hotel/whatever, bullshit.

When I was working returns last year, some lady came up to the counter, slammed her bags on the counter, waving her FINGER in my face and telling me she spends thousands of dollars a year at our store, and she demanded to know WHY we weren't adjusting watches anymore. Corporate stole our jewelry counter in our remodel.

I was in a bad mood that day, so I waited patiently as she spoke, and then said, "Lady, I make 8.00 an hour, do you think for a minute that anyone in management or corporate would explain their thought process to an hourly worker that can barely make their rent?"

She lost her steam, and just wanted the number to complain to corporate. Gave her that, and wished her a good day.

Is there a video camera that had the bike in frame?
If not, I'd have been very tempted to kick it over. (Not that I'm suggesting that, of course)

I think that just proves that they're not that concerned about their motorcycle, therefore not part of a club. I don't know how it works over there, but at the bar I work at, motorcycles are held in rather high esteem, especially if there's particular stickers on them. If they were part of a club, they'd have moved their bikes without complaint.

Of course, they were dumb enough to park on a sidewalk, so any damage that would've been done to their bike wouldn't have been the hotel's fault anyway.
