  • Guests should come with warning labels.

Lady calls the hotel, looking for someone. I check my registered names.. can't find it.
Now the lady has gone from sugary sweet to rude, demanding to know 'where you stashed my husband!'

Me: "Ma'am, I didn't stash him anywhere. My shift just started and the only guests I've seen are unmarried and my regulars. What's your husband look like, and if I catch him, I can leave a message with him to call you."

Ya know..I really should stop asking these types of questions..

Lady: "He's handsome, taller than you.. and blonde."

Me: "Ma'am, that describes half my guests, and how do you know how tall I am anyway?"

Lady: "I'm in your parking lot, sitting BY his car, so I know he's in there!"

    *Le sigh..*

Me: "Ma'am, what is his license plate and yours?"

    Lady: (NOT thinking): "12345L 12345H."

Me: "Thanks Ma'am, I'll see what I can do."

I hang up the phone, call my local police, and give the license plate of her car, asking that they come and speak to her about leaving my parking lot.

I hang up from that call, go about my paperwork when I hear the front door ding. (Side complaint: PUSH THE BUTTON ONCE! It dings 3 times. Stop holding the damned thing!)

She's standing at my door, yelling at me for having the cops remove her from my property. When I ask her where she's parked NOW, she says at the Days Inn next to me, which is A) Private property B) Also owned by my company.

So, again, I pick up the phone, ask for the officer to return and make sure the lady is clearly gone this time if possible.

I think that caller ids should come with mood signals or warnings like "May suddenly turn into crazy bitch if not given an answer I like." or something.

OH! And I found the 'husband.'. I described the lady, and that's his EX Fianceee of 3 years. He's married to a lovely lady now, and that's not his wife that was making so much noise.

No WONDER she's his former fiancee. The only wonder is, how she became his fiancee in the first place. He should have a restraining order taken out on her.

I asked if he had one, was told no but he'd like to get one. So I called my cops, and let him talk to them.

That kinda reminds me of a guest we had who left specific instructions with the front desk not to send any calls or people to his room, especially someone he had a restraining order for, for which he gave the name; the desk wasn't supposed to say if someone was staying there or not anyway for security reasons.

What did idiot night shift front desk do during a phone call "Yes ma'am, we do have so-and-so staying with us; I'll connect you to his room!" Mind you this is like 2AM.

          Now *that* is customer service.

I wouldn't want him to have to deal with that when I'm gone and the morning shift isn't known for paying attention to stuff. Plus.. when the door unlocks at 5 am.. I can't get around my desk fast enough to stop her.

I thought hotels have a policy of not disclosing who is staying at their place? For this reason, obviously. Holy cow.

Usually if they ask for a name, I tell them I cannot give a room number, but IF I have the person, I'll transfer them. (Less it's a no call room, then they aren't there). I don't promise I have the person and it's for that reason. LOL

Or at least press stalking charges against that piece of work.

I think hotels just have a policy about not disclosing room numbers. If they wouldn't tell you if somebody wasn't there, how could you ever contact somebody that was in the hotel if you didn't have a room number? (which most people don't)

That's just so bad on so many levels. Maybe people pretend hotel means hatel?

We can say yes we have the person or no we don't. But room numbers, how they're paying or any details about them or the room, are off limits.
