  • Appointments suck

Most of our business for accounts and loans are walk-ins. First come, first serve. Simple. However, we will do a limited number of appointments.

As we explain EVERY time we set up an appointment, having an appointment means that when you come in, you willl be put at the top of the line. You will be the next person called by the first available loan or account representative.

It does NOT mean that a representative will be available right that minute to help you.

We simply do not have the staffing to have someone sitting around waiting for you to show up (especially since many customers take a decent amount of time to help, so that representative would have to be sitting around not taking customers for at LEAST twenty minutes before you arrived.) (not to mention appointments that don't show up)

Yes, it DOES matter that you made the appointment. See those four people also sitting in the lobby? They arrived before you, but because you have an appointment, you will be seen ahead of them.

Today, I was one of two people doing what--three months ago--we had seven people available to do. I will get to you when I can damn well get to you.

Ooooh, I wish more people would actually follow through with that! Last time I went to donate blood they told me if I made an appointment I would be seen first. Now, if that had been the case I could have donated, I waited over 30min until I got my thumb pricked to check my hemoglobin level, then told it would be at least another 30 minute because of all these people in front of me (who were drop ins), I did not have an hour to wait before even donating blood, and because of my recent history of donating, I would probably have had to sit around doing nothing for 30 minutes after donating. All of which wouldn't have mattered if I had been seen at or around the time I had booked my appointment for, I had made it then for that reason! ok /rant

If you guys have explained that, then the customer should be happy, and not make their time so tight that they can't wait around for a few extra minutes. They should be glad that you at least have some form of appointment system.
Began work Aug as casual '08
Ex-coworkers from current place of work: 26ish
Current co-workers at current place of work: 15ish - yes he just hired 3 more casuals
Why do I still work there again?

I've had people at the motel who thought having a reservation = skipping to the front of the check-in line.

No. Reservation means you're guaranteed a room. You still have to wait in line to check-in. (Chances are very high all those other people in line have reservations, too!)

Did you stick around or just head on out the door?

I've had similar problems trying to donate stuff. I'm trying to donate stuff. If I have to jump through all sorts of hoops and waste all sorts of time for no good reason, I'm not going to donate the stuff.

Appointments aren't much help at any Doctor's office. Why should I think they'd be helpful at a bank? Someone else is always in the way.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.
