Wherein a SC is insulted by standard procedures.

An SC claims to have been traveling for 20 years. More like she traveled once and then 20 years later she traveled again, so I guess that spans 20 years.

I was extending a night for a SC and of course I have to authorize more funds on her CC to make sure there's enough to cover her stay. I tell her of this fact.

SC: I'm insulted.
Me: I'm sorry you feel that way.
SC: I have been traveling for 20 years and not one hotel I've stayed at checks for money on my CC.

Right...Like I'm just going to let anyone stay without being certain they'll be able to pay for their stay.

Well perhaps she'd like to leave some collateral instead? Perhaps a foot or a small child?

At my hotel we often don't bother running an additional pre-auth if the guest is extending for just one extra night.

Also, there is a way to force charges to the card that would normally exceed a customers credit limit. I don't know the specifics, but the boss has done it a few times in a case where someone has trashed a room.
