  • I pwned a SC somewhat

I deliver pizzas, and around noon today a lady who works at the same bank I bank at calls and orders wings to be delivered. I inform her that the delivery time is an hour to an hour and twenty minutes because I have three other deliveries ahead of her. At this point she becomes rude and belligerent asking me why its going to take so long and if it would take that long for a pizza too. I tell her it would, and she asks to speak with my manager, who according to him she was rude to as well.

Once I got off of work this afternoon, I decided to call my bank and lodge a complaint. However, I found out that she does not work for the bank, but for the security company the bank employs to run security. I decided to drop it at this point, because it's not worth going through the security company to lodge a complaint, because this security company is large and well known, and I was unable to get a name from her.

Props to my bank for taking me seriously and returning my phone call within a half an hour.

You can still lodge a complaint with the security company. Just because they're well known does not mean they are above anyone else. I'm sure if you gave a time as to when the order was placed (or tried to be placed) they could figure out who it is.

Trust me, while people may complain about us, it goes both ways. The Golden Rule is the Golden Rule for a reason.

I'm just curious; was she at her job when she called in the order, or did you simply recognize her? I'm wondering because I'd hate for her to get in trouble at her job because of something she did off the clock on her own time. Even though she was being an SC.

Oh, how many times have I dreamed of exacting revenge on the SCs while in plain-clothes!

She identified herself as being at the bank, plus it was verified by the bank manager that she was on the clock when I spoke with her.

I honestly don't want to take the trouble. Wackenhut is a huge company.

How is lodging a complaint about someone's employee being extremely rude making trouble?!

My thoughts exactly. There's a difference between lodging a complaint because you're an SC who thinks their entitled and lodging a complaint because of a legitimate reason.

I'd be more concerned that the guard could turn on a customer one day.

Sure Wackenhut is huge, but that doesn't mean jack. If an employee is being unprofessional (while on the clock) to you and any other staff members regardless of their status, it's okay to lodge a complaint.

Agreed. My company uses them for security also and while many of the employees are awesome the night guy at my building is creepy. Like "I don't want to talk to him, he's like a stalker and I'm afraid he might snap some day" creepy. Many complaints have been lodged but Wackenhut doesn't want to get rid of him (they're afraid of him suing when he's fired apparently, per a friend who also works there). But the more complaints, the more backup we have when something happens.

The company that is employing the security company should also be aware because to the public, that security person is a face with the company.

I might or might not lodge a complaint, I haven't decided yet.

Interesting, I'm surprised the bank didn't take your complaint more seriously. Even if not directly employed by the bank, they are nevertheless working there and, as someone else mentioned, are the face of the bank. A friend of mine was moved to a different assignment because one employee found him "creepy". He apparently walks quietly and she didn't know he was there until he was there. He is otherwise a pretty quiet and nerdy-looking guy, so he isn't exactly intimidating.

I definitely think you should. Trust me, she would have NO PROBLEM complaining about you had the tables been turned.

i'm going to play opposite-pants here. I think since it was her calling your business, and not like she was rude to you as a "civilian", i would let it slide. expecially since she has spoken to your manager. if you make a complaint to the security company as a representative of your pizza company (which they would probably take it as) it could open a whole lotta ugly.
plus, if it wasn't your bank's security but some other company doing it, would you have cared so much, or just chalked it up to another SC.

I'd leave an anonymous complaint to whatever company letting them know how their employees act while representing the company. If you're wearing the uniform, off or on duty, you are a representative of that company and your behavior directly reflects on that company. If you want to be insufferable, do it in plain clothes at least.
