  • I want ten thousand!

This wasn't necessarily sucky, the guy just kind of confused me.

This guy walks up to my window with nine thousand in black chips (each black chip is $100 dollars, thus the total being nine thousand) and he put down a thousand in cash.

Me: Your total is 9,000. Would you like hundreds?

Guy: Yes, I want ten thousand in hundreds. I'm giving you a thousand dollars to make it ten thousand but I don't want you adding it with the nine, YOU know what I mean!

Yes, sir I know what you were hinting towards---he thinks I'm going to tax him. I don't control the taxing. But WHY would he give me a thousand dollars?

Me: Um, did you want a check?

    Guy: No. Cash. Ten thousand!

Me: Well, I'm going to be giving you back your thousand....

    Guy: Just do it!

So I go into the back to get my boss. She hasta watch me count cuz of the amount. She told me to just take the nine thousand dollars out of my drawer and give him back his own hundreds.

So that's what I did. He finally got WHY it was pointless to give me his hundreds. I still don't know what he was thinking by doing that. A CW said he was trying to mess with my head but I think he was just confused. Like how people throw in change that makes them get back more change. Weird.

I hate those people because they do confuse me, or are trying to steal and I just say, hell no, especially if they numbers I don't feel like bouncing around in my head. Anytime a 50 is involved I get paranoid, especially if you want to start buying 50s out of my drawer which I don't keep any and know they a scammer at that point, except for one old guy who had too many 20s and didn't like a thick wallet.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

Obviously you were there, face to face with the dude, so you could read body language and such, but it sure smells like a confusion scam to me.

I could understand it in a transaction where he wanted to have the winnings in as few, larger bills as possible, such as infinitemonkies suggestion above, but yeah, not with $10,000.

If his 9 grand was going to be taxed, he'd get less than that, right? Or is it you don't tax then and there? I seldom go to casinos, so I don't really know.

And if it was a change-type scam....really? In a casino with tons of staff and security and cameras? REALLY? So stupid, yet I'm sure many have tried.

I think your boss suspected what he was trying to do. He wanted to give you money and get back different money. Did you check to see if his money was counterfeit?

Actually we're not allowed to check bills infront of customers anymore because they felt like "criminals," so I couldn't even check his. Maybe he thought I was going to hand him a strap without counting it. I was confused. I don't know if he was trying to scam or not I didn't really understand him too much he had a thick accent.

There is a certain amount that we keep track of people on but I don't know what happens to the amounts after we put them on it. I have no real clue what when the actual taxing begins.

Yeah we don't tax them on the spot or anything he'd have to get a form. I think the only on site taxing is when you hit something big on a machine and slots taxes you right then and there, unless you specify otherwise.
