  • Move me to a different room!

So I have been at the new job just over a week, and I am sooo sick of moving people to different rooms. Here is a little list of why I have had to move people:
    • Room overlooking the wrong parking lot
    • a scrap of a paper about the size of a dime was found under the bed and thus the room was not cleaned
    • the room smelled too clean
    • the bedspread was ugly
    • the room had a couch instead of a chair

    Just a couple points:
our hotel is surrounded by parking lot.....the lady with the scrap piece of paper had to crawl under the bed so far that the only part of her body showing was from the knees to her feet.....and the rest...well...I kinda speak for themselves....The room with the couch was a FREE upgrade to a room which was $125 more expensive than the one she was originally in...we upgraded her to be nice since we were slow. We downgraded her to her original room which is half the size.

I just had a fight with my mother over our vacation this summer because she cost the family an extra $380 because she wanted a room overlooking the BEACH not the POOL. We had to cancel the room and pay for a more expensive one.

Serioulsy? Who cares what the view from the window is? I never got that. Who just sits in a hotel room looking out the window while they're on vacation? Don't like the view? Don't look! Or go out!

How can a room smell too clean? Too bleachy or something?

I can go into those 2 in a little more depth.

With overlooking the parking lot...again....the hotel is completely surrounded by a very large parking lot...but with 300 rooms you need a large parking lot. At the moment we are re-surfacing the parking lot. The resurfaced lot is really pitch black in color....the non resurfaced section is a gray color. She wanted to overlook the "newer" section because it looked more presentable.

In regards to the too clean comment. We recently remodled that particular room (we are in the process of remodeling all of the hotel). She said she wanted to be put in a room that was a little more used. So we put her in a room that hasn't been remodled or painted in about 20 years and she was happy.

I sometimes have to do that, if I am having a sucky body day I can pretty much get into the wheelchair and veg reading a book. I spent a fair amount of the time on our cruise hanging out on the balcony watching the people on the beach, reading a book and swilling iced tea - but I am fine with that. Not everybody wants activity on a vacation - some of us ike to relax by doing nothing. Back when I had a job as a machinist, I was on my feet all day and I preferred vacations where i could laze about doing nothing =)

I don't see how the bed spread could be any different in any other room aren't they all the same?

Wow! All of that just makes my brain hurt a lot. When I'm on vacation the only thing I plan on doing in the hotel is taking a shower after I've had fun during the day, watching some TV to unwind and to relax, maybe enjoy some <ahem> with the missus, and going to sleep.

Beyond that I couldn't care less which window is facing what parking lot.

The wrong parking lot? Seriously? I mean, I could maybe understand if she wanted to be close to where her car was parked in case it got broken into (then she could hear the alarm) but because she wanted to see the newer side? I don't think so.

i guess it's how i was raised, but i never understood complaining. somewhere between virginia and arizona, The Boy and i stopped at a hotel for the night. when we got into the bed, i noticed that the bottom sheet was pulled up about a foot and a half short of the actually edge of the bed. so i remade the bed. not hard. i guess people that complain alot just want to hear themselves talk or something

The only place where the view matters is Disney land animal kingdom. If you get one of their suits, you can feed giraffes from your balcony. One learned how to knock on the sliding doors. It was the scariest thing that's ever happened to me. Heard someone knocking, opened the curtains, and got a load of giraffe tongue. After the initial shock it was awesome though. A few monkeys joined us for breakfast one morning.

                        Concerning the view:

Many moon ago, when I was a smaller monkey, my family would always stay at Motel 6s when we took a trip to the states. In every room they had posted a quote by someone who had done a lot of cowboy movies. I wanna say John Wayne, but I don't think that's it. Anyway, the quote read "[about Motel 6] when you're asleep, it looks just like one of them big fancy places."

So true! Play a tape of waves if you're facing the pool and PRETEND your room faces the beach!

Really, on a trip, unless it's an extended one, how much are you really in the room anyway??? These people are lucky that's ALL they had to complain about! I'd take the couch over a chair any day!

they are all the same except in the remodled rooms. We are in the process of remodeling. 38 rooms have been completely remodled out of 287. We ended up moving her to another room with the exact same bedspread because none of the remodled rooms were available.

You could switch the "too clean" lady with the "scrap of paper under the bed" lady...
