  • You Need to Turn in Your Keys

Yesterday, one of the checkers rang in a wrong code so he had me fix it. We went over to the service desk with the customer and I did the procedure as normal. The customer didn't want to touch the money until it was correct. He wanted all the items taken off which I did.

I was ringing at my normal speed and the customer told me to slow down. I started pushing the buttons one-at-a-time. A few moments later, the customer got impatient and mentioned that he didn't want to spend a half hour getting the problem fixed even though it was probably about 5-10 minutes. I voided the order and the customer told me that I needed to turn in my keys. I told him "Fine, I will" and handed the store keys to the checker. The customer even told the checker that I shouldn't be in charge if I couldn't stay composed.

I went into a register and stayed there until the customer, whom the checker finished taking care of, left. That way, the customer would think I was giving up my service desk job when I really wasn't.

Later on, the checker told me that I did my job right and the customer wasn't right. He told me that I was doing a good job and to not let anyone tell me otherwise.

sometimes you just can't please people
you're going too fast, then going too slow and when you show the SC that its getting to you they see that and take advantage of it or don't care and just piss us off anyways
the hardest part is staying calm. or like you did just get out of it. cool that your CW backed you up
