Yes it is. I'm not really sure if the property owner could have the renter arrested for that though. Acctualy can the renter be arrested if they live in another state?

For those claiming the requests or part of them were reasonable please remember one thing.

This wasn't a question before booking or a request at the time of booking, they just assumed that everyone would know they had a toddler and wouldn't bring their own equipment and rang up to ask for these things after they were in the property. I have never seen any villa/hotel/apartment/etc where baby gates or other child-proofing devices where included as standard UNLESS SPECIFICALLY STATED

Then again we're talking about EW's, seemingly a common thread among VRS's posts. As for the "little surprise" threat I wonder if VRS has the authority to evict the guests on that basis. I sure would want to if I were in that situation.

Seriously, WTF? Don't these idiots realize that people like them are *exactly* why many hotels and condos charge damage deposits? I don't know about other places, but the apartment we rent in Cape May (NJ) hits everyone up with a $500 fee now. Seems they did have some damage in the past. Also, if the damage exceeds $500, not only will they keep the deposit, and not rent to you again...but they'll file criminal charges as well.

It won't be. It never is, except by accident. Most of us have poop stories, and only about 5% of them involved the actual toilet. :P

On another point, my parents had a really novel approach to small kids and water: they put both myself and my brothers into swimming lessons right around the time we learned to walk. And until we'd matured enough to understand what danger was, they never let us out of their sight, especially around water. My parents took the job of 'parent' seriously when we were little, I can give them props for that.

Dave's customers seem to think that 'vacation' means 'abdication of any and all responsibilities for anyone and anything, including oneself'. I'm just waiting for a customer to expect a body servant along with the house, so they don't even have to wipe their own arses.
