  • The Customer Wanted Me To Be Rude

I am serving a regular customer when his cell phone rings. He apologizes saying that it's work and takes the call. I have no problem with it and finish out his transaction.

I notice the guy behind him is giving him the death glare as he walks out

SC: Don't you find that so rude. Mr Pretentious can't put down his phone for one minute.

I ignore the comment and ring up his purchases. As I try to tell him his total he mimics holding a cell phone and interrupts me with "Hold on, I'm on the phone." He starts laughing at his "wit".

I give him his change and he then says "It's okay to trash the customers especially the rude ones. Don't let him ruin your day."

Thankfully, I don't trash the customers to their faces. I would have told him that if anyone would qualify as a day ruiner, it would have been him."

So the guy apologizes, takes the call, doesn't hold up the line, finishes his transaction and leaves.

      and he's the rude one?

        How ironic.

A customer on a cell phone is the polite one in the story..and the customer ANNOYED by the phone is the asshole.

I agree with you, though. I've had to step away and take calls from work. I always apologize and remove myself from the line, and it seems to smooth things over.

Its the assholes who hold up the lines, talk loudly, and act like the cashier should wait around for them to finish their precious (usually stupid) conversations that piss ME off.

The guy after him seems to be the rude one, even with his fail in being humorous, at least the regular apologized. . .sometimes you have to take calls, especially if its important like work

The SC was a dumbass. I'm glad the other guy was polite, apologized and excused himself before taking that call on his cellphone.
