  • Rants and Scammers

For some background on my job, see my post here.

As I'm having another horribly bad day at work, I decided to get on and rant. I think, as someone pointed out in another thread, people think that companies are so desperate for their business and we as employees are so desperate for our jobs, that they can just call in/come in/write in and just destroy us...and we just have to smile, take it, and kiss their butt. I am dealing with a lot of that today lol.

    Do you need a job...

So I take this call from a guy who is 15 days past due and suspended. After my intro he belts:

SC: "I don't want you to call me when I'm past due anymore"

Me: "Well sir we send those calls out as a curtosey to help remind you to a bill is past due, to help avoid suspension."

SC: "I don't care, I don't want to get called anymore."

After explaining to this SC that what he was looking for couldn't be done, and politley explained he can avoid getting calls by paying on time, he paid his paid his full balance, and added this comment after...

SC: "Do you need a job?"

    Me: "Excuse me sir?"

SC: "Do you need a job?"

Me: "Um, no sir, I'm at my job working right now..." (duh!)

SC: "Ok then (Vestax) with financial, you have a good day there buddy.

    Wtf? Seriously....did I miss something?

    Take my check...

Dear customer with a returned check for NSF,

No, we cannot take another check from you to replace the one that returned. Honestly, this should not suprise you, nor should the $20 fee you were charged. No, we will not waive that fee, as we were charged by our bank and we are not going to pay for your screw up. Believe or not, screaming "TAKE MY CHECK!!" will not change this. I also don't care what stories you have reagrding the return, it won't change the fact the system will not let me take your check, and no it does not matter if it is a different checking account, or if you give me every excuse in the book why you can "only pay by check" when I have offered you every other payment option under the sun.

    Scams and Flams

So this lady takes the cake on calls today. She has only had an account for 6 months, and in that time managed to have 3 out of 5 payments that she has made back out (2 of which were disputed credit card payments... huge red flag)
She is claiming there is a missing payment for $240, ironically also the exact same ammount as her past due, go figure. She has already escalated about this twice yesterday and twice today. Basically we gave her time to fax in the documentation to prove the payment went through. She did not. Now she is refusing to fax it, stating we should just put this money into her bank account.
    Wait.... what?
You really think that without documentation the company is just going to give you money? Futhermore, even if this payment does exist, it would only cover what you already owe. There wouldn't be any money left to send back to you...

I don't know, maybe she knows the free TV guy? If she fusses long enough about it, she expects she'll get something for nothing.

I'm sure that was her plan. She kept saying things like "You confused honey?" and "Did I confuse you yet?" lol. Unfortunetly for her, I was not confused at all lol.

Oh! I get his reasoning. He's clearly accustomed to dealing with debt collectors. He doesn't get the fact that you're from the billing company, not a debt collection company. Since your company does business with him, you can keep calling him. It's only if you turn the debt over to collections that he can insist that they not call him anymore. His behavior sucks, but at least it makes sense on a twisted level.

There's a lot of this going around, and like you said, they all think we have to suck it up and take it or they'll "take their business elsewhere." What business? If you aren't paying, you're not a customer and we don't need you!
