  • Babies why do you do this.

I don't really know where this should go it is not really involving a customer. I have noticed that babies and toddlers are always starring at me. What is weird is some of them when their parents are waking away from the desk will turn around and crain their necks around and continue to just look at me. I have not spent alot of time around small children so I don't know if this is normal or what. I don't know I thought it was weird.

It is a little off putting, but babies and toddlers tend to look at me too, probably because I tend to wave and say, "Hi! oh you're so precious! Yes you are!" You're a new, novel thing to them, especially if you have an odd characteristic, like a deep or high pitched voice or different colored hair and their little brains are going into hyper drive. Eventually they'll lose interest.

Do you wear/have hair (or other body parts) that is bright colours? I've always been told that that really gets their attention.

I think a lot of babies will stare at you for the simple reason that you're looking at them, although there have been studies that show that babies will look longer at attractive people, so take it as a compliment! I, on the other hand, get stared at by them because I look like a cabbage patch doll when I smile

I got stared at my small children a lot when I had a blue fringe. The worst bit was when they pointed it out to their parents exclaiming "I want blue hair too!" which was usually followed by a disapproving glare from the parent/s.

It is pretty disconcerting when kids stare though. Just hope they never look terrified and run away crying as often happens to my friend (who has waist length bright red dreadlocks - coincidence?).

I've noticed this, too. Some kids will come up to me and talk, and others will look really shy and hide behind their mothers.

I am not used to little kids much anymore, but I just remind myself, "It's not the Hellspawn I hate. It's the Hell that spawned them."

Kids are curious about the world around them and the people in it, as long as they aren't being too obtrusive about it I just brush it off.

*blink, blink* Is your friend by any chance an echidna who doesn't know what an echidna is supposed to look like? Do you have any other friends, like say a fox with two tails?

I entirely glossed over your comment about having a blue fringe of hair at first... but, the clues, they are there!

I think they stare at me because they know that my shirt means I bring the sweets out and they are wondering why I still exist once the icecream is here.

                  Who knows? Kids are funny.

I get them staring at me a lot too. I just hold an impromptu staring contest with them. I hardly ever lose

i get that occasionally, but i usually make faces at them so they'll smile. i try not to smile, because it scares them sometimes.

Little bit creepy alright. Though I love it when they're old enough to smile back at you if you smile at them, MUCH better than the staring. It looks to so wise and accusing on newborns...

I get little ones staring at me all the time. I've actually posted about little ones following me around at the library while I was working. They just find something about me fascinating. My fiance says its because they know I'm a kind and gentle soul. I don't think I've ever had a little one not smile at me, at least for a little while. I've had some that give me very quizzical expressions. Those are funny.

My theory is that at that young age they are kind of like animals... they can sense when someone is uncomfortable/unexperienced with children and they GRAVITATE to them.

...I hate kids, I really do... there is not even a drop of maternal instinct running in my veins.... but the little monsters LOVE me.....It is awful...
