Why is always me who has to deal with these people? It always, always, always is me.
A woman orders some food in the drive, pulls around to the window and more or less stares at everyone working inside through the window. She somehow gets my co-worker's attention and CW asks how she can help. I only caught snipets of the conversation, as I was busy asking a customer something about their order. Basically, the woman in the drive had been timing how long an order of fries had been sitting on the "finished food" trays, waiting to be bagged, and the fries had, apparently (and doubtfully) been sitting their for 8 minutes (she showed CW her stopwatch on her phone). Customer tells CW to send those fries back because they're probably "ice cold" and "I WILL NOT eat those!" CW simply says "okay..." and proceeds to tell the kitchen staff the customer's message, then walks over to me to tell me what's going on. The usual things are said to each other. You know, usual CW chat when dealing with people like her ("The fries aren't that old, she's only been in the drive for 5 minutes; look at the time stamp." and "God, that is so stupid.")
A few seconds after this simple exchange was made, the woman in the drive honks to get my attention. I open the window and ask what I can do for her. She says:
"Just give me my money back. That girl just said "fuck yourself" when I told her my fries were cold. I cannot believe she would just cuss out a customer like that. That's unbelieveable!" I, knowing she's full of shit, decide to just go ahead, give her her money, and send her on her way. She asks for my CW's name, and I give it to her, and she tells me that she WILL be talking to our boss about this and blah, blah...
I tell CW what she said that CW said and CW sort of looks at me like
. I tell her that I know she's just pissed off about her fries and was just being a bitch for no real reason. I void off the order, write a note to my boss about what happen, and reassure CW that nothing bad will happen.
Twenty minutes later, the SC decides to call back. This time she wants my name and "the brat's" (CW's) name too. I give her both, then she wants both of our last names. I tell her I can't give her that and she (miraculously) accepts that. Then, she allowed me to catch her in her lie.
SC: "So, when I call your boss tomorrow, you'll verify what happened, won't you?"
Me: "Well, no, I can't verify that she said that to her because I didn't hear it come out of CW's mouth. I can't verify something I never heard."
SC: "Well, of course you can't verify, I mean, what, she did say it directly to you!"
Me: "Ma'am, my co-worker never said anything remotely close to that to me. If anything, I can verify that she never said that to you."
SC: "Well, thanks for all your help, Guitardude!" (bitchy tone)
I'm pretty sure she'll come raise hell tomorrow, even though I won't verify the facts in her favor. I'll update tomorrow.
