  • Cold Fries...

Why is always me who has to deal with these people? It always, always, always is me.

A woman orders some food in the drive, pulls around to the window and more or less stares at everyone working inside through the window. She somehow gets my co-worker's attention and CW asks how she can help. I only caught snipets of the conversation, as I was busy asking a customer something about their order. Basically, the woman in the drive had been timing how long an order of fries had been sitting on the "finished food" trays, waiting to be bagged, and the fries had, apparently (and doubtfully) been sitting their for 8 minutes (she showed CW her stopwatch on her phone). Customer tells CW to send those fries back because they're probably "ice cold" and "I WILL NOT eat those!" CW simply says "okay..." and proceeds to tell the kitchen staff the customer's message, then walks over to me to tell me what's going on. The usual things are said to each other. You know, usual CW chat when dealing with people like her ("The fries aren't that old, she's only been in the drive for 5 minutes; look at the time stamp." and "God, that is so stupid.")

A few seconds after this simple exchange was made, the woman in the drive honks to get my attention. I open the window and ask what I can do for her. She says:

"Just give me my money back. That girl just said "fuck yourself" when I told her my fries were cold. I cannot believe she would just cuss out a customer like that. That's unbelieveable!" I, knowing she's full of shit, decide to just go ahead, give her her money, and send her on her way. She asks for my CW's name, and I give it to her, and she tells me that she WILL be talking to our boss about this and blah, blah...

I tell CW what she said that CW said and CW sort of looks at me like . I tell her that I know she's just pissed off about her fries and was just being a bitch for no real reason. I void off the order, write a note to my boss about what happen, and reassure CW that nothing bad will happen.

Twenty minutes later, the SC decides to call back. This time she wants my name and "the brat's" (CW's) name too. I give her both, then she wants both of our last names. I tell her I can't give her that and she (miraculously) accepts that. Then, she allowed me to catch her in her lie.

SC: "So, when I call your boss tomorrow, you'll verify what happened, won't you?"
Me: "Well, no, I can't verify that she said that to her because I didn't hear it come out of CW's mouth. I can't verify something I never heard."
SC: "Well, of course you can't verify, I mean, what, she did say it directly to you!"
Me: "Ma'am, my co-worker never said anything remotely close to that to me. If anything, I can verify that she never said that to you."
SC: "Well, thanks for all your help, Guitardude!" (bitchy tone)

I'm pretty sure she'll come raise hell tomorrow, even though I won't verify the facts in her favor. I'll update tomorrow.

Trying to cause trouble for no reason. She got her money on the fries, but no, that's not good enough, got to try to get somebody else in trouble by lying. Bee-yotch.

Just got off a few hours ago. The CW in question got fired today. Boss Lady says that she "couldn't possibly see a paying customer making something up like that".

I'd've quit on the spot and called the corporate office and informed them why.

That's just criminal! Has that spineless manager never actually *worked* with customers? Can you get the other coworkers that were on shift that night to vouch for your coworker? Didn't your testimony mean anything?

If I had been fired over that crap I wouldn't want my job back, but I would at least want to be able to leave without that kind of mark on my record!

Oh yeah, and the bitch wasn't a "paying" customer... she got her shit for free by bitching, and vindication of her schizophrenic attitude by getting a good worker fired for no cause.

Send someone you know in to the store, have her lose her mind and demand that managers manager. Then buy a snickers. Then tell the managers manager that YOUR manager called her discriminatory names. I mean if its that easy..

Unfortunately, Boss Lady is also the owner...She's not really spineless, so much as she is greedy. Everything, everything, everything is about the customer. I can only think of a few times when Boss Lady has denied a customer something.

What's even sadder is that my mother happened to be working today when Boss Lady fired CW and she said that when the angry bitch woman called to complain, her story had changed for a second time. In this version, CW screamed "fuckin' bitch!" so loud that the entire store should have heard, which is bullshit. I wouldn't have vouched for CW if I had heard her say that. In fact, I'd be all for firing her. But, the fact remains that everything the SC has said is bullshit and that my CW has lost her job for no good reason. CW is also someone who holds grudges, so I really do hope CW behaves herself and doesn't do anything.

Sounds like the owner of the place my husband used to work. She treated her employees like absolute shit, would fire them in a heartbeat if a 'customer' complained too loudly, and was the greediest wench I've ever met. The regular SCs knew what to do to get free shit, yet they were always right, which never made sense to me given how greedy the owner is. I'm so glad he doesn't work there anymore.

Offer to be a work reference for when CW applies for a new job.

Frankly, I'd be mad too. I'd be sure to catch the car someplace that didn't have surveillance and superglue its doors...MAYBE uninflate a tire...or four...

Boss Lady has obviously never MET a "paying customer" before...>_> Or, at least, not ever truly dealt with one. Did BL even give you the chance to tell your side of the story? Or those of the customers inside the store who would have, no doubt, HEARD such an exclamation if it actually happened?

So wait, let me get this straight -

Bitch complains that your CW said something you know she didn't say. You offer to vouch for that. Bitch calls owner, gives a completely different story. CW gets fired. Bitch wins.

What amazes me is from what I gather owner wasn't interested in your version or CW's version of events. No wonder SC's act the way they do. Bitch is probably sitting at home with a self satisfied smirk on her face. That sucks.
