  • Will you please just let me do my job?

Small story. I just get back from my break and one of the electronics people is trying to get a service card added onto a customer's straighttalk phone. For those that don't know, Straighttalk is a prepaid cellphone, same company as tracfone, that's geared towards people who use their phone a lot. $30 a month gives you 1000 mins 1000 texts and 30mb internet. $45 a month gives you unlimited everything.

Now, the problem is that Tracfone has a place on the phone itself where you can enter the pin number from the service card directly. Straighttalk, for whatever reason ( I assume just because it's the same company and they're lazy) looks like it has that same option, but as far as I know, every single Straighttalk phone doesn't actually allow you to use it. You call Straighttalk and go through the automated system and enter the pin number that way.

So I save my coworker who was trying to enter it on the phone and take it over to call Straighttalk. As I start to dial the husband? of the customer leans way over my counter and tells me, rather condescendingly, that I can just enter it directly on the phone. I mean really talking down to me. I can't remember his exact words because there was a lot else going on at the time, but it made me feel like he though he was talking to a little kid. I show him that it says unavailable when you try that, and he says that it must be because she's out of minutes, and "just so I know in the future" that that's a lot easier.

Anyway, I get her service card put on without further incident and she's grateful. Amusingly, when I first told coworker that you have to call it in, the customer turned to me and said "Thank You!" rather firmly, so I imagine that this is an argument she's had with him too.

This is technically "morons in management" but I didn't feel like making a new post. So we had a Straighttalk display up by the cash registers in front, as per an agreement with Tracfone. One of our managers, awhile ago, decided he wanted it moved to the TLE area. From what I've heard, just to feel like he's making decisions. So guess who had to move everything back up to the cash registers before the conference call with Tracfone in two hours time so that we could tell them it was back. And then find something else to put on the TLE display since nobody could remember what was originally there.
I make music videos in my spare time. http://www.youtube.com/user/raven13x. Check them out ^_^
