  • The Awful, The Funny and The Awesome, Pt. 2

I didn't think I'd have a part 2 to my first thread, but I do!

Starting with the bad news first.

    The Awful

    Gee, Thanks!

Another story courtesy of manager J.

He found a wallet last night containing nearly $1000 inside. The name on the driver's license didn't turn up anything in the phonebook so he ransacked it looking for the guy's information, a scrap of paper with a cell phone, something. Nothing came up.

Guy comes storming in later and J sees him and gets out the wallet.

    "You found my wallet?"

    "Yup, here you g-"

"*rips it out of J's hand* You didn't steal any of it, did you?"

" Of course not, all of it's there."

    *guy stomps off*

Random Customer: "Hey, he found your wallet! The least you could say is thank you, you moron!"

    *guy ignores, stomps away*

    J: ""

    The Funny

    Irradiating The East Coast

I had to scrub out the microwave today, SM's orders. I figured I would be doing a lot of cleaning today so I happily obliged. (The store's a PIGSTY and it irritates me, because I think I have OCD and especially since manager A is on vacation and everyone has been slacking off on cleaning because she's the one who mostly does it.) So I'm cleaning the microwave and tell Sm that we will need to order another one because the protective coating on the inside is rusting and flaking off a tiny bit (on the door). SM says that one of the regional muckety muck's representatives came in on a visit and FREAKED. OUT. about the state of the microwave. Apparently we are all going to get cancer and die and the entire East Coast will be covered in toxic green radiation due to our microwave if we don't stop using it NOW.

    The Awesome

    Politeness Gets You Relief!

One little boy was so happy I let him use the bathroom today, he said "please" and "thank you so much!" and went back merrily to his mother when he was done. Mom also let him have a soda for a previous polite experience and he was happy.

    Bonus: Oh, K (coworker rant)

Not to fault people who have ADD or ADHD, but K apparently has and she gets bored easily. I'm trying to clean and sweep and dust and fight away the dust lions we have building up and K keeps wanting to wander away or distract my attention somehow so she can go off because she keeps saying she's bored. I sent her off to face, she goes into cosmetics and only touches 3 things and then comes back and says she's bored and wants to do truck and gets a catbutt face when I tell her that truck is finished. She keeps whining she's bored and in the meantime I'm cleaning, dusting, sweeping, putting away cigarettes, doing the damages, taking care of the trash, etc. I ask her if she wants to clean, K whines that I shouldn't be doing that and that manager A is on vacation and to leave it for her. I tell K that cleaning would help me out and unbore her, she makes a face. This from the girl who finds it gross when I change the breakroom trash, outside trash and clean the bathrooms every Monday night. This also from the girl who wants to get her own place. If it's so gross to do normal chores, then she either won't last long on her own, or she'll find it ungross pretty fast.

Cleaning sucks, but it's just something that needs to be done, and done often. It won't go away if you ignore it... in fact, it will get much, much worse. If she does end up getting her own place, she'll learn that really quick. She'll either deal and clean, or she'll be living in a STY with garbage and dust whales all over the place.

What a complete and total ass.

ADD is no excuse for laziness. She's lazy.

I used to hear a lot of "it's not my job to . . . " My reply is always, "It's everyone's job."
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

Dust whales? Must be a relation to space whales!

And K sounds like me on a very, very, very bad day. Those are the days that I spend a lot of willpower points to just get to noon and minimize my trap-flapping. Bleh.
