  • Are you having a seizure? swearing and long

At this time I was working at my wonderful neighborhood S-Mart in the electronics department. I occasionaly get asked to page for someone to assist with a layaway.
Today I was in charge of layaways as well. On this day I was behind the counter straightening the new camera stock when SC walked up

SC : does this painful looking arm jerk towards the back of the store (where the tool section, bathrooms and layaway are located) - a mix between a punch, half the wave motion and a corksrew

    Me: can I help you?

Sc : does it harder, I can hear joints popping

Me : I don't know what you want Maam

SC : Yells at the top of her voice while pumping her arm even harder -Stupid Fucker Call someone to help me in layaway NOW!

    Me : Ummmm Wow...

SC : I said NOW you dumb shit NOW!!!

    Me : I can...

SC : the arm motion is going into overdrive it looks like her arm will break or fall off - Get on the god damed phone NOW!!!

Me : As I was about to tell you I am working layaway today. I cannot read your mind, so sorry If I don't know what that gesture means.

SC : tried to interupt me several times with alot more swearing - I talked over her, being a big guy I have lung volume to spare

Me : getting really pissed off about to say things that would cost me my job when I see the electronics manager approaching

EM: If you would follow me I can help you

SC : Complains about how rude and unhelpful I was while walking away

Me : at this point I was so hopped up on adrenalin I was shaking. I thank God for intervening and wait for the red haze in my vision to clear.

My manager complemented me on how I handled that cow, but why do people act lke that?

I would have just stared blankly while she flailed away until her arm flew off or she collapsed from exhaustion. Then asked if I could help her.
I will never go to school!

Your Electronics Manager is God? Awesome!

No, seriously, I see what you mean. Though I would probably have been more scared and confused than angry if I had been in your shoes. Of course, I'm not a big guy - My voice is loud enough, though, but in this case I think I would have been choked up just from being so weirded out!

I am so very sorry you had to deal with that. I admit though my first urge would have been to tilt my head and blink at her for while. Then when she'd worked herself into a fit and demanded why I wasn't helping I'd ask her to go get an adult that I could work with.

I couldn't take that job much longer, because they made me the toy department manager at christmas... Dun Dun DUUUUUN but thats another story.

I just can't figure out why some people act like that to store employees - never had anything remotely that rude happen outside of work.
I guess them being customers is supposed to save them from an asswhuppin or getting chewed out?
              Wage slaves are people too...

to . From that story, I think you could use a stiff drink. Bar's that way *does restrained arm gesture*

I agree, that's a scary lady, I'd have had the same problems you did. (Well, plus whatever problems I had for not keeping my temper as well as you managed to). How come we get all upset when dealing with someone like that, but they probably feel no guilt for behaving in a way that would shame a five-year-old

I don't think 'moron' is a strong enough term. I don't think one exists. Think about how sad and pathetic your life has to be to act like that.

They act like that because they can get away with it.

Having been on both sides of the counter, I would never conduct myself that way as a customer. Not only because I would be a public embarrassment, but also because I know how it feels to deal with such cases.

About that lady, forget about her arm snapping off, I would have made her head roll.

Because they want to mentioned on this awesome forum. She probably gets off on showing this to the other inmates at the asylum.

I'm so sorry that happened to you
If someone treated me like that, I would have probably burst into tears.
That, or freaked out and "self-defended" which would have probably gotten me in trouble.
