Going to a store, hitting on nearly every female that works there (mind you, it's not as if they are allowed to tell him to eff off!).....you don't think that's creepy?
Yeah, I think it's creepy, but I give him credit for having the balls to keep trying. He's only asking once, keep in mind.

I may be a bit rude or even jaded sounding, but too many guys do it wrong.
To each his/her own. Some women play hard to get, while others prefer confident or aggressive men. Just be glad some guys are playing at all, especially after Magpie's comment that women who aren't interested get offended when asked. Remember, just like we'd like to tell assumptive customers, that we're not mind readers.

Perhaps this guy would have better luck looking in a place that is guaranteed to have some single women, like a bar or internet dating site.

Getting hit on by a stranger is creepy unless you're in an atmosphere where that's expected (bar, club, something like that). At work it's awful because you can't speak your mind as well as you normally could, and something like that catches you totally off guard. When I go to work, I'm there to work.

And I don't know about other girls, but I would NEVER go on a date with someone i met for a grand total of two minutes while I was running register and he was hitting on me. Try an actual conversation with a girl before bringing out the pickup lines, for the love of God!

        Maturity FTW.
I don't know what FTW is, but the maturity part, at least, is exactly what I mean.

I wouldn't, I have self respect and I'm not desperate.

Generally, asking a girl who doesn't even know your name, and you don't know hers, is creepy.
Especially if she is at work, because she has no way of even chatting with you to see if you're worth a date.

Also, if guys ask for my number, I give it to them, then tell my husband that they will be calling. He likes to mess with people.

Instead of doing that why not tell them you are taken?

The problem is that a lot of the guys who think that hitting on women they don't know is a good idea don't take no for an answer. I have once or twice seen a guy pull off what is generally a creeper move with some class. Part of the trick was that he didn't ask for a number until she had expressed interest herself. If he's asking for a number when you're not expressing interest, odds go way up that he's one of the idiots who thinks that a woman should never turn a man down.

I admit that I don't get the "ask every woman you meet" mindset. I've asked a few of my guy friends, but they're all married (in their twenties), or in long-term semi-serious relationships (same age). So while none of my guy friends understand it, and all think it's a creeper move (asking random women in general, not merely if it's all of them), I'm hanging out with guys who had serious girlfriends in their mid-twenties if not earlier, so they're obviously not the kind who would hit on strangers.

I just think its unnecessarily cruel to give them your number so your husband can mess with them unless they already know you have a husband. Somebody shouldn't be abused if they're only crime is being socially awkward.

Because it doesn't always work. The response from the guy could be "He doesn't have to know" or some such.

Well, in that case, you at that point have free rein to tell the guy to fk off. Because that is the point the guy has crossed the line.

If he flirts, and asks for your number, and you give it, he has not crossed a line. If he persists after you tell him it's not going to happen, then he's being a creep.

Guys will always take no for an answer, if that is the only answer they get from you. Just because he continues to say assinine things to you does not mean you have to change your answer to accomodate him or stay in the same vicinity as him. Stop talking to him and walk away. If you can't walk away, call for help.

                        No need to for games.

If the person doesn't take no for an answer then messing with them is fine. If you give them a number that screws with them the first time they ask then you are being a jerk.

I don't understand that mindset, either. If some guy just randomly asked me out when I don't even know who he is [or if some girl did, for that matter ], I would think it was really weird and desperate. And would be a big NO from me.

Especially since I already have an SO.

Because morons think that if they are smooooth enough, the woman will just "forget" she's married or cheat on her husband, even if she's smacked him upside the head with her wedding ring to show she's married.

I've always made it clear that I'm taken, and if they persist, I then relent and give them my number. Hey, if they think I'm gonna cheat on my man, they can explain their reasons to him. Most guys go "Oh, sorry then, I'll leave you alone/is it ok if we are just friends?"
