  • Clueless about tax and coupon details SCs

Two different stories here. The first one did not happen on my line but it did deserve mentioning. A woman was purchasing a pack of gum and after finding out that the price included tax, she says that the item should not be taxed and wants to speak to a manager. The manager tells her that gums are indeed taxed. Her response? She wants to see a list of items that are taxable. I'm not sure if such thing actually exists, but how clueless about taxes can we be? They exist.. pay them! The manager said she didn't think she had one around, and the customer said she expects to see one the next time she's here.

Next, the coupon details SC. This one did happen on my line. She was buying one canister of Pringles and it was slightly bigger than the regular size and she gives me a coupon that is for 2 canisters 16oz or larger. I tell her you need to buy 2 and shes says "no its ok because i bought the larger size." I ask the manager if I can take it, she says no because of the or larger line and the quantity, and the customer bitterly says to take it off and makes a comment about the coupon. People, we need to go by what the coupon says.

Gum ain't food. It's taxed. I mean, you're not even supposed to swallow it, how could she think it was proper food?

I'm too lazy to use google myself () But I think some states charge sales tax on regular food, too. I'd tell her to take it up with state legislature.
A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)

States probably, in Arizona the taxes change city to cit, I perfered to go into Phoenix (10min away) to buy food as its tax free and most registers say tax free does not count liquor and tobacco.

I wonder if the library might have a book on taxable items. I'm sure they'd have something that might be close. It'd be funny to get a 1000+ pages of tax code on sales taxes and show that to her the next time she comes in.
