  • What the hell do you want from me?

10:00 PM last night, I swear it. Woman comes in with a grocery cart of bagged items...
J: "Need to do a return...?"
    H: "YES!"
J: "Not really sure you can at this time of night... guest service closed at 8:00 PM. You might be able to go through... C over there... *point into the store* on register 4... maybe... no guarantees..."
    H: "I don't see anyone on register 4!"
J: "He's there, nonetheless. He's in fact the only person on any register right now."

She wanders off, and comes back toward me, growling, "He says he CAN'T do a return! Am I supposed to take all this home and load it back up tomorrow?"
I should note: one of the things I can see in her bags is one of our freshly cooked chickens... I doubt we take those back EVER.
J: "I wasn't absolutely sure about whether or not returns could be done through anyone who was in... it was a guess..."
She leaves, I go to clock out, and grab a small bottle of water, only for her to come charging up to me while I'm standing in line!
H: "Where do I get cigarettes?" I swear she said cigarettes.
J: "Register 6 usually, but anyone can grab them and sell them to you."
H: "ANYONE can do a return?"
J: "No, no one can do a return right now. You asked for cigarettes...?"
H: "NO! I asked who can do a return!"
J: "No one this time of night, sorry." I'm off the clock, go bother someone who's actually working, bitch.
H: *huff* "I have to go to work, I'm late as it is... I'm not going home and putting this all away first, and blargle blargle blargle *I stopped listening, really, a UScan opened up and I was not willing to stick around to listen to her rant about not being able to come in during the twelve hours of the day guest services IS open, and ranting at me isn't going to change that NO ONE on the floor can do a return right now anyway!*
    "I call murder on that!"

    What a human squall line.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

It's times like these that I hope they wake up and realize that they are accountable for their own actions, and start acting more responsible. Hey, we can all dream though, right?

So. . . what the frack are you doing at the grocery store, and buying temperature sensitive products to boot?

I'm sorry, boss, I'm late because I had to go buy a freshly cooked rotisserie chicken and then those evil people at the store wouldn't take it back so I had to take the time to actually take my groceries home even though I was already late. I even told that mean store employee I was already late, he just didn't care!

Yeah. I can see that going over real well.
