    Yesterday, a customer got into my line and I couldn't tell if he was over the limit so I had the service desk employee check. She told him that the line was express since he was way over the limit but he ignored her, ended up putting his stuff on the belt, and I ended up having to ring him up.

    I switched the light to regular when I was doing his transaction. After he left, I switched the light back to express.

    You'll get d-bags like these from time to time. I remember these types of experiences from when I was a cashier myself. If he's a regular and you spot him in line next time, ask him beforehand if he's got x items or less before ringing him up. If he doesn't and you have to take him, perhaps you can say "cash only, no change", and see if you can send him elsewhere.
