What's with testers?

I have no clue what it is with testers for fragrances, but they are really popular, this last week I have had at least a couple things happen. Sadly they happen alot throughout the month, but here is the 3 things that happen at least once a week.

1) I tell the customer what the price is of the fragrance itself so I get this little phrase, "Why don't you just sell me the tester? There's half left."

2)The tester goes walking off in someone's pocket, 4 desks makes it hard to keep track. But we only put testers that are nearly out anyways, so not much of a loss. But why try and steal a nearly empty tester when RIGHT BESIDE it is a gift set with the full bottle in it?

3)When purchasing I always get asked if I can throw in a tester, or because they don't have money they want the tester for free. Sometimes they are joking so I go along but hearing it so much from many different people just grates on me after a while.

haven't you heard that the US is the "home of the free"? people will do anything to get free stuff. and they'll steel stuff just cuz they can. i learned that when i realized that people were taking dozens of napkins at work just cuz they're there.

My mother always used to take pepper and grated cheese containers from Papa Ginos. It always made me wonder why they still leave those out in the open to this day and not lose money in losses.

I know someone at work who would take dozens of sweetener packets at lunchtime every day. She wasn't using them in a beverage; she was taking them home. (Note: this person has mucho bucks in the bank)

She finally stopped doing that when "someone" anonymously left a coupon for the same product on her desk.

the shoplifter in me says- If you where stopped by security a half empty/used bottle of perfume is easily justified as 'i had that before i came in' and a full one isnt.

you need to think like a thief sometimes.
