Finally managed to stop a scammer cold.

This morning there were a number of price changes to do, including some items that were going clearance. One of them was our 3 inch tape guns (tape guns are pistol-grip packing tape dispensers). We have two types: one for 2-inch wide tape and one for 3-inch. ONLY the 3-inch went clearance (probably because we hardly ever sell them).

Now, when I put the tag up, I made a point of checking that all the guns on the peg were 3-inch ones, and that the 2-inchers were on their own peg with the correct price on it.

Not even an hour later Psycho Bitch paged me.

Me *dialing the service desk*: What's up?

PB: Can you check a price for me? I have a guy here with some tape guns he says are on clearance but they're coming up at full price.

Me: Only the 3-inch guns are on clearance, the 2-inch ones are full price.

PB: Well he says he found them on the peg with the clearance price.

Me: I just put that tag up and a checked to make sure that was not the case and it wasn't. He's lying. The 2-inch ones are NOT clearance.

PB: Um.....ok....*click*

The guy must've refused to buy them because I found 2-inch tape guns in the returns basket not long after that.

I'm confused about something. Wouldn't the ones that are 3 inches thick be more preferable, and therefore not the ones to be on clearance? Unless this is the only time when thicker isn't always better?

The majority of packing tapes are 2-inches wide. We only sell one or two 3-inch tapes.
