  • I got called a racist too

SteveZim1017,your thread just reminded me of a little incident....

A coupla years I was playin' at a local saloon & at break I'd gone over to talk to a very nice lady who I'd met OL that had come to see us play.As we talked,I told a story about a close musician friend of mine that had recently passed away.As I got to the part about him meetin' "A famous English guitar player & his Japanese wife"* this guy sittin' at the table (tryin' unsucessfully to hit on the lady who'd come to see us) said "That's racist"....we (me,her, her friend) all looked at him & said "What?!?"
    He says "That's racist,sayin' she's Japanese"

I said to him,"What's racist about mentioning that she's Japanese??? She is,is it racist to mention that he was English???"

The lady & her friend were also flabbergasted, they chimed in with "What's racist about that?"

After some more words about it he finally backed down.

At the end of the night he tried to shake my hand,I refused, tellin' him "Fuck you,you sonuvabitch, callin' me a racist when my stepfather's name is Gonzalez & my brother's married to a Mexican lady. You can kiss my ass, asshole" (my exact words,I was ready if he wanted to start somethin',not that I really thought he would). He was Spanish & apparently had issues, but hey, that ain't my problem.

I can get away with a lot more stuff in the music business than I ever could in retail or real estate.
