Elizabeth Bathory back from the beyond???

That's rude and a big "oh hell no!!". I hope you do get some compensation in the form of Mr. Franklin.

I hope you get some word from Google soon or SOMETHING that says things are being done.

No response from them, and the files are still up. I don't know what to do.

I would shotgun the DMCA notices to everybody that could possibly be involved. Somewhere someone will care.

Also, the ones you sent to Google: Do they have a specific place that you can send those, or do you just dump them in a general delivery box?

I hate to jump on the "get a lawyer" bandwagon, but seriously...get a lawyer. There is obviously money to be had here as compensation. There's a ton of evidence apparently. Get a lawyer and sue the bastards! Really! Call one now!

They actually have a specific page to submit them. I'm going to try faxing one, and see if that gets a response.

Going to try the faxing thing I mentioned....and see what I can do afterwards.

Yeah, I totally confess that when I saw that, I squee'd, grabbed the kids for a piggyback ride and ran laps around the house. XD I act silly when I'm supremely happy about certain things, LOL.

I'm so happy, even if its a fairly small victory~

I've needed some sort of good thing to happen to me this month, and I'll totally take this, haha.

Congrats on the victory, no matter the size.

Be sure to keep an eye out for their next location, though, because I'm sure it'll show up again.

I'm glad it got resolved, pity about how long it took though.

Hopefully they'll realise that you mean business and won't try again.

                          LOL Yeah I have, haven't I? ><

And actually, first issue is going to be figuring out who in the world is passing out this stuff. Unfortunately, I don't have a way to track exactly which license was used for those cracks.
From here on out, you may want to put in a comment line with a serial number unique to each purchase, and note it on the purchase record. If you want to be really sneaky, have the comment say something like, "Code to prevent error <serial number> occurance." This assumes you can do so reasonably. I'm not sure how your distribution method works.

Even if you can't nail them this time, you'll get them on later templates.

I actually do....not sure how they got ahold of some of the stuff. Even better? All the images on my site are watermarked. >< So its like, extra confusing how they did it.

Yeah, going to talk to my coder about implementing something like this. Just in case something horrific occurs again, would be good to have this to fall back on.

Disabling scripting within the browser would circumvent Events like OnRightClick. They could also just View Source and dump it all into NotePad. Moreover, if the files are hosted on their own sites (rather than your own), they could just FTP the source files themselves. Sadly, there are plenty of ways for scum like this to get what they want. I strongly suspect that some of the lowballing that has been coming your way has been from people who have access to the stuff for free, or who at least knew about it.

I would imagine that they could use Photoshop or GIMP to pull apart the images' layers to remove a WM. If the images were already "flattened", some alteration of colors/smoothing might do the trick.

Nail these s to the wall, Seraph!...And then, come back and tell us about it, of course

edit: Speak of the devil. TechRepublic posted an article you might wanna check out. It includes info about an applet designed to help track down online plaigiarism offenses.
