So I'm on the third floor, and a woman who looks familiar comes up to me. She says she is on a computer and needs info on St. Croix Virgin Islands. She says she needs help on the computer.

So I start to follow her to the computers and she stops short. I asked her what computer she was on and she says, "looks like they are all full." She says she wants to get on a computer so I asked her if she had a library card. She starts to dig into her purse and takes out her card but the card falls. Now she seems maybe 50 and she's fat. I was thinking to ask her if she wanted me to pick it up. But she is bending down trying to pick it up. I finally asked her if she wants me to get it and she snarks, "I'm disabled but I can still do things."

She gets it finally and I take her to the reservation computer to log in. She starts typing the number in and I tell her she didn't need to add spaces. She looks at me like I'm insulting her and tells me she didn't know, that is why "you're the teacher, that's why I'm asking you. I may be disabled but you are suppose to teach me." And she walks away. then she waits for a cw to be done with a customer and complains to her.

update: So first the woman wants to check out a reference book and cw explains that can't be checked out, but the owman doesn't understands, she want a supervisor. a manager comes down and the woman says something about her disability and not being helped and she goes away. I go to cw and manager and I tell my side of the story. Hopefully I don't get in trouble.

reason why I mentioned she looked familiar was becasue I think she caused trouble before, I just can't remember what it was.

People have to want to be taught. This woman sounds like she just wanted to complain and bitch about her disability.

What disability? She needs to lose weight? Sorry, that doesn't automatically make her disabled. You were polite to ask her if she wanted you to pick up the card, she could have just said 'no thanks, I've got it.'

As for typing in the spaces, well, you told her something she claims she didn't know, so that sounds like teaching to me! She's just a chronic complainer.

Maybe she has a handicapped snarking placard.

"I'm disabled but I can still suck."

But we don't because lots of it's disgusting.

            What disability?
When the manager came down, and asked me what happened, the manager added that if she (patron) was dyslexic that she could have asked us to type it in and we would have. So I don't know if the woman said she was dislysic or said she had problems reading. or something of the sort.

            Sheldonrs and Sparky, hee!

yeah, the disability thing. yes, we got that you have one, but it does help to tell us what your disability is if its related to serving you. (like it seems it was in this case) for that, she's just stupid.

Maybe she was treated really bad before? Not by you or the library, maybe somewhere else?
Oh gawd, I'm defending them now.
My husband was treated really badly at a library before because he's dyslexic and ADHD, and the librarian wouldn't help him do research. Now he won't go to libraries or take me to any.
But this lady, sounded like she wanted an excuse to be a pissy bitch.
