Now, watch them try to escalate it to the next level, while at the same time, mutating the story to the point where you denied AN ENTIRE ORPHANAGE their ONLY MEAL OF THE MONTH!!!! and now the poor kids will have to eat dirt and bugs because the heartless pizza people were too good to take what little money they had!

    MEANIES!

...then she says something that I consider kinda dumb. "WELL I have 5 HUNGRY GRANDKIDS here and they need to be fed".
"Then take your $100 bill to the GROCERY STORE and buy enough food to feed them several meals!!!" I totally do not feel sorry for people this stupid.

Yeah, that's why a lot of delivery drivers carry handguns, too.
I hate to disagree but that statement is not really true. most delivery places expressly forbid drivers from carrying any sort of weapons ie, knives, pepper spray, tear gas, batons, brass knuckles, tools, any kind of firearms or any other sort of object that can be determined to be a weapon. and unless the state has a concealed carry law (with the appropreiate certification and permit) the driver is doing something highly illegal.

most delivery places have rules against weapons on your person OR in your vehicle.

Well, we've had at least one case of a pizza delivery guy down here in North Carolina involved in shooting where they've killed the would be robber. No charges were filed; the driver I believe had a concealed handgun permit. He did get fired because the chain had a policy against weapons.

But we'd had a string of delivery driver murders, so I can't really blame the guy.

I don't understand the point of the larger bills in day to day life. I know there are certain circumstances where you might need to have a bill larger than a $20, but baring those few exceptions, why would you even get your money out of the bank in any denomination larger than a $20? Heck, the ATMs don't even give out anythign bigger. The only reason I can see for someone regularly carrying larger denominations is because it makes them feel important (and how pathetic is that?).
Sounds to me like this lady does not have a checking account. She probably gets her paycheck cashed at a check cashing place, and gets her $$ in large bills.

Still doesn't excuse her EW behavior.

wow, she comes from a generation where basic skills were taught and reinforced and STILL won't cook?

so many levels of lazy and stupid right there.

hell, for that much, she could go to the store, find specials on frozen meals and buy a week or more's worth and still not have to cook.
            look! it's ghengis khan!

Just think I once had a job where after my shift I would have to go deposit cash in the bank for the owner. Sometimes I would be dropping 50000, no that is not a misprint, nor any extra zeroes. That was not counting credit card receipts, just the cash. Lol, sad thing is .. the majority was in ones...

When I first started at the bookstore, someone had to go to the bank every day to make the previous day's deposit and pick up the change order. First time I ever went by myself (which was like the 2nd or 3rd time I went at all) I had over 12 grand. Largest deposit I ever carried was about $32k, but I wasn't by myself then. Usually I went with the community relations manager (since her being gone didn't pull someone off the floor) and we'd stop for donuts on the way back. If we had a large change order with a lot of coins, I'd usually take one of the receiving guys.

I was so glad when they finally got an armored car service. As nice as it was to get out of the store for a little bit, I really didn't like carrying that much cash, especially by myself on occasion. (My parents weren't too thrilled with the idea, either.)

When I was in college I worked the weekend movies, and when I did the cash we had to take it to the student center and there was a lockbox we dropped the money bag into (through a slot in a locked door, as well). It was a tiny campus and I never felt less than safe there, but we still called campus security to escort us; if there were two of us they didn't have to come get us, but we still had to call and let them know that we weren't alone so they didn't worry about us.

"I have five hungry children here and no food in the house and am somehow incapable of buying any down at the shops and I need to feed them and your driver won't make change for my Krugerrands!"

Had to do this for two of my previous jobs. One of them involved me driving to the bank daily. Got robbed twice at that one. The first one happened on camera in the bank drive through. The second one, the robber took a shot at me right outside the store after I had already given him the money. Then he dropped the gun. Neither one was caught.

AFAIK, they still don't use an armored car service.

one of my old navy coworkers told me how he got beat the F up while delivering pizza. and on top of that he'd specifically told the manager "I don't want to deliver to this location alone" but was told he had to.

if i remember correctly the franchise had to pay his medical bills because of that.

Since I was the receiving guy at the smaller store, I had to deliver fairly large deposits to the bank that was at the end of the parking lot. Most of the time I got a couple of people to go with me. Every time, though, I'd "forget" I had my scissors in my pocket and my knife on my belt. I'd been robbed at a previous job and I wasn't about to let them hurt me if I could help it.

It may have been a grandmother baby-sitting. I know my hubby's grandmother doesn't ever order pizza and would be completely lost when it came to portion sizes and what you can pay the driver. Maybe the parents expected her to order $80 worth of pizza and gave her the big bill to cover it.

Quite right, too. You send your employee into a dangerous area, you deserve to foot the bill for any injuries he receives.

I've heard far too many horror stories about delivery drivers getting targeted by thugs. I really think they should be allowed to carry weapons. Or hire karate experts / former military / former Hell's Angels to make deliveries.

I thought everyone knew that delivery drivers don't generally carry that much cash. I guess I was wrong!
No, no. Everyone does know this.... it is stated over and over again everywhere and by everyone.... however... you have to remember that in Special Snowflake Land the rules that apply for the rest of us do not matter and the universe must bend to suit them.....

Do non-bank check-cashing places require you to get your money in big bills? If not, then the same thing I said before applies. There's no reason to purposefully get your money in anything larger than a $20.
                            Don't wanna; not gonna.

My cousin was a delivery driver, once he was paid with a $100 bill (was like 2 blocks from the pizza place though, and he's a big tough looking guy so people knew better than to mess with him.) The person was a shut-in and was babysitting, the parents gave them $100 as payment for babysitting and to buy dinner with. She had nothing else, so she gave my cousin the biggest tip he's ever gotten.

The funny thing is that I had the opposite issue (posted on fratching) where I had a $42 order and a $50 and had planned on giving the driver an $8 tip just so I didn't have to cook.

Even if I wasn't going to tip (I always tip well FYI), paying with a single $50 wasn't going to damage his stock of change any more than paying with a pair of $20's and a $10.
