  • Staff member "claimed" I would not let him park in Visitor parking

    The university I work at as a contract Visitor parking attendant also has a faculty/staff garage that is adjacent to the Visitor parking garage. When that garage is full then faculty/staff members can park in Visitor parking.

    Players involved in today's incident:
    A: male staff member's boss
    B: male staff member
    "Nancy": parking office employee

    I received a strange phone call this morning from "Nancy". She told me that she received a phone call from A who told her that I told B he could not park in Visitor parking.

    I told "Nancy" that this did not happen.

    Ok...

    There were only a couple of parking spots needing to be reserved according to the Outlook calendar. The parking office is responsible for making the reservations based on the information they receive from the faculty/staff members or from the dept. There were plenty of non-reserved spots available. So there was no need for me to deny anyone access to Visitor parking.

    Plus no faculty/staff member drove up to the Visitor parking booth window this morning & introduced himself as *name of male staff member* not that he would actually do this.

    So why on earth would I do this, why on earth did this happen, & why did he do this?

    Makes me wonder what really happened.

    Excuse! Excuse! I need a vowel!

    "They" wouldn't let me park!

      Obviously you are required to recognize all other employees on site. Please study the handy book of photographs available at the parking office. If they tell you there's no such thing, don't believe them; it's part of your job description!

        My guess is the guy actually *gasp* read the sign that said $5.00 to park. Then he got upset because how dare they refuse to give him free parking. Even though he didn't even ask or attempt to park. Having to pay = refusal.

          Or he was trying to park in a totally different parking lot, like say, the one at the hospital 7 miles away.
          To seek it with thimbles, to seek it with care;
          To pursue it with forks and hope;
          To threaten its life with a railway share;
          To charm it with forks and hope!
