I've had lots of people ask me what their total is "with tax." It's nice to be able to say there is no tax on advertising (just about the only thing NY state doesn't tax...shhhh! Don't tell them!)
In Illinois, tax preparation is still not taxed. Many are quite glad to hear that.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Ahhh...this reminds me of the reason my home telephone number changed to unlisted after hubby and I started our business. Home phone rang and it was a custome, demanding, in the snottiest tone possible, what legal right did we have charging sales tax. I explained to her that we did not get to keep the tax and I had an obligation to pay the state. She went on a rant *using same snotty tone* that she works for a lawyers office and was going to speak to them about what legal right I had to charge her sales tax. Never did hear back from her.

wait until they implement a taxing tax, then he'll have a reason to be pissed; don't like it? fine, write a letter to congress, in the mean time, fork it over or leave the item here and gtfo.

When I worked at the bulk candy stand, I had to add little signs to the scales stating that tax was NOT included in the price on the scale. The amount of whining was annoying.

Er, let me get this straight. He didn't pay the amount due, anknowledged that he KNEW he wasn't paying the full amount, then walked off with the game. And he can't be charged with theft?

Can be; they just can't identify him well enough to make the charges stick.

She probably moved to your state from a state that doesn't charge sales tax. There are still several of them left.

This is why my home telephone is only hooked up to my fax machine. If they want to call me at home to bitch, they can argue with the fax.

We can't exactly charge him with theft because he paid most of the cost. He did short us deliberately so we've decided to ban him from the store.
Yes you can. It doesn't matter that he paid for part of it; he absolutely and knowingly didn't pay for the full value, and that makes it theft.

Now, the whole him walking off and you not having any way to ID the asshole is another matter entirely.

Next time he tries to come in, before telling him to leave cause he's banned, tell him he's qualified for a special promotion that will be sent FREE to his home, but you need his full name and address in order to send it. Hopefully he'll be stupid enough to provide you w/ this info, which you can then forward onto the State Tax Bureau.

This is why I'm so glad that in Australia, GST (goods and services tax) is added to items automatically. The price that you see on the tag is the price with GST included. The only way to get goods tax-free is through Duty-free stores or through certain outlets.

Maybe he thinks he's exempt from the Obama tax, but this guy more than qualifies for the Idiot Tax and the Asshole Tax.

Technically, he did steal it cause he didn't pay the full price.
