SC checks in early this morning wanting a room. We agree on a price and move on with the check in process. I collect her cash and as per policy we need a CC that we can authorize $1 so we know it's a valid card.
Me: Do you have another CC. We need to verify this is a valid card and this one keeps declining.
SC gives me a 2nd CC. It declines.
Me: I'm afraid this one was declined.
SC: I think you just don't want to rent to me. Other hotels don't make me go through all this. Here try this card.
I run the 3rd card and it was good. I tell her this.
SC: I also want your supervisor's name. Your price is too high.
Ok 4 things.
1. If the SC would have given me the working card first, she would not have to be put through all that. Not my fault.
2. By renting to her we make money. As a bonus, housekeeping also gets money.
3. What I'm doing is policy. Managers will back me up.
4. Managers will back me up on the price. In fact, if I had gotten her to agree to a higher rate, they'd be even happier.
