  • Superiority Complex Much?

So I had two friends in my line who were chatting to each other and ignoring me when they spotted my coworker, who's been with the compnay for 20 years or so. One of the SCs just spouted, "Oh, my gawd, that girl is still here! We were buying Vanilla Ice CDs & she was here then." Yeah, so that makes you better? So what if coworker is still here?? She loves her job, it pays her bills, and she's good at what she does. I HATE the superiority of our arrogant sucktomers.

Perhaps that's when you mention that good workers can actually keep a job for more than a few weeks, unlike some people...

Uhm... since when does buying Vanilla Ice CDs make one better than other people?

If you ask me, those two need to stop, collaborate and listen.

Yeah, who cares how much "prestige" the job has if you're good at it and can enjoy it? An employee who sticks with a job for a long time should be applauded, not mocked.

I guess there are still plenty of people who don't see retail work as a potential career. I don't think it's for me anymore, but somebody's got to do it, and I'm better off if they like it.

And Vanilla Ice CDs? I know they exist, but somehow I have a stronger association between Vanilla Ice and ye olde audio cassettes...

Reminds me of when I had my sweet Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer cassettes... I think I was about six or seven?

                      Quoted for truth.

                      Wow.

You know, I hated my old co worker, Funkstain. Could not stand him. However, it used to piss me off when people would badmouth him about the fact he'd been a studio crew member for as long as he had. That he'd never tried to "move up."

First off, really? At South Carolina Educational Television? Move up to what? Shit eater first class instead of shit eater second class?

Secondly, the man liked running studio camera. That's all he wanted to do, so what if it was a lower end job? He was not hurting for money and liked what he did for a living. God forbid anyone be happy and content.

Well, Vanilla Ice released a studio album just this year, according to Wiki, so maybe that's the one they were talking about?

My guess is a long time ago when Vanilla Ice was new on the scene (early 90s maybe) She was working there then too? Maybe that's what they meant.

Some of my co-workers have been at the swamp when people were buying Fleetwood Mac and ABBA 8-tracks.

That should be good enough to make those two cretins' heads explode.

I guess some of my coworkers could really mess with their heads... the lady who trained me at the relay center can remember when the first portable TTY machines became available and how many more calls they processed then (yeah, really old school, considering now anything with an internet connection and a microprocessor can be used as a virtual tty). When I was at the reservation center there was an employee who had been there since Holidex was new
