  • Survived the holiday season.

So in the store I work for, I'm normally in the camping section. For the holiday season I was put back on a cash register since we've gotten a bunch of new people this year who have never dealt with our holiday rush. /bg

    Yes, I am human.
To the customer who demanded I ring her up after my supervisor told me to go on break, get over it. I am human. I need to eat. See the Grinch shirt I'm wearing? I do a very good impression of him when I am not fed on time.

To the man who suggested that I "hold it" and fit you for a backpack while I was running to the bathroom - of course I can do that if you don't mind a puddle on your feet.

To the woman who was bitching because we weren't open later than usual (while checking out half an hour after we close), it sucks to be you. I'm glad that our company realizes that their employees have lives and include work/home balance as one of its key values. To the supervisor who informed you of that fact and told you to leave - that is why cookies magically appear on your desk.

    Price adjustments
To the gentleman who almost put one of our new cashiers in tears - why are you surprised when I take over and am a bitch to you? I am very protective of my coworkers as I like all of them very much. You brought in pants with a gift receipt and wanted to exchange them - that's fine. However it is not our fault that the pants you have were bought on clearance and the ones you want are not. No they are not the same - hence the different item numbers. No I will not adjust the price. If you don't want to pay the difference then I guess that's your problem. Yes I will continue to glare at you until you either pay or gtfo.

However, the highlight of my week were the kids. I wore a Grinch shirt during my last shift and every kid who came up to my register gave me a huge grin and started singing/humming the Grinch song. My day was made by the lil 4 year old guy who started my day off by singing me the whole song (with some improv when he forgot the words).

Cute little kids are almost as good as puppies for making a crappy day not nearly so crappy. Little kids that sing at you are priceless.
