Where I work, we can get in serious trouble if we accept tips from customers.
I helped a customer put her stuff into her car, and she went to hand me a tip. (A few dollars). I said no and started walking away.
I even mentioned I could get fired for accepting a tip. It got to the point she started getting very argumentative, and stuck it into my apron pocket.
I went straight to my supervisor, you told the manager right away. Thankfully they both understand that no matter how forcefully we say no, and refuse, there will be those customers that still find a way, and since I reported it withing minutes, I didn't get in trouble.
There was a coworker collecting money for a pledges for something that the coworker is involved in, so that is where I spent the money. I didn't feel comfortable keeping it.
