As the uncle of a girl who got one of those wishes after undergoing brain surgery, I have exactly three words for the person who took issue with the people who make such wishes happen:
Go fuck yourself.
"The Customer Is Always Right...But The Bartender Decides Who Is Still A Customer."
I want a 'Make a wish' foundation for sick grown-ups.
I get the pain, doubt, worry and fear too.

Seshat's self-help guide:
1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Heh, I know I hit TriCare's cat cap by the end of march/april most years.
I just cuddle my cat ...
Though I do think that an adult version of Make A Wish would be nice. Could Make A Wish start an adult division if someone donated the funding? Or is it somehow restricted to kids only?
EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

See above.
We wouldn't be able to start an adult version because of our charter but with the proper funding (Our first donation was $15.00) it could be done by another group.
It would have to be a completely different name.

Thank you, Sheldon. It's good to know that dying adults aren't forgotten!
I'll investigate for one of those that is for illnesses that aren't deemed 'life threatening' and which covers Australia.
Amethyst: thank you for the hugs.
Hmm. What would my wish be? (other than, you know, getting WELL).
Thinking BIG and expensive: a heated, salt-chlorinated swimming pool in my backyard. The warmth would ease the pain, the salt-chlorinated would mean my eyes didn't sting, and I'd be doing my exercises every day.

Why? Because kids are not likely to make their wish "sex with Megan Fox." Whereas you can just about bet that some adult would. (Hell, if I had a terminal disease, that would be one of MY wishes!) Yeah, it's kind of twisted, but let's face it...there are a lot of people out there who are twisted, and an adult form of Make a Wish would have to be ready to deal with such requests.

Some of the teenagers might, if they don't think she is too old.
Should the request come they can easily handle it. Just ask her. Either she says yes or the applicant will have to make another wish.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that such wishes never get beyond the people administering the wish foundation. I am pretty sure they're not going to approach a celebrity and say, "Hey, look, we're trying to help this teenager who's ill, and their wish is to bone you. You in?"
Just a hunch.

Correct. THANK GOD!

It would be a bit of a difficult talk, yes . So Jester, if you get terminally ill, you will have to negotiate on your own.
Do you ever get that kind of wishes at all? I don't think any of us want details, a simple yes or no will be fine.
Had I gotten cancer a few years earlier, I think my wish would have been to know how the Harry Potter books did end . Luckily I don't have to.
It may be an Urban Legend, but IIRC, didn't someone make such a wish, and Rowlings went to the child's hospital room and read the story to him in person so he (or she) did get their wish?
