  • How is this my fault?

Not exactly a SC since this was a vendor.....

    Background:

We have a few third party company's that work with our store for big ticket sales. Once they make a sale, they bring in the order form to us where we process the order. This order form gets filled out by the vendor rep with information given to them by the customer. We never deal with a customer directly and only with the rep. We also have no set time for reps. They come and go as needed, being the middle of a busy day and all.
    Onward!!

Rep comes in, yacking on her cell. And when I say yacking I mean im not getting anything more then gestures and grunts from her in regards to what she needs. Whatever right? I can ignore things as well.

Things get interesting when I process payment though...

SV: Blah blah blah, yup just at *my store* doing some work blah blah
Me: Alright, order is processed. Cya next time.
SV: * to phone* Hold on a second... Hey thats not the right total!
    Me: Really? Lets check that.

I double check the numbers she gave me, since I haven't done an order incorrectly before. My reciept matches the numbers she provided.

Me: Well thats what you gave me to process.
SV: No no no! *scribbles out one number and writes a new one in* Thats the right number!
Me: Alright, well i only put in what you gave me, I can refund this amount for the customer and process a new order for the correct amount and i'll make sure they have a copy to show the steps we took to correct the mistake.
SV: Well usually the supervisor will actually ask me to confirm the total so this sort of thing doesnt happen!
Me: Well usually when people deal with other peoples money for their business they put their phone away to give the transaction the attention it deserves.

Insert fish like mouth actions here.

The order got straightened out and I think she learned not to blame someone else for their own error. She was actually pretty apologetic afterwards which is definetly a point in her favor.

    *sigh*
Fan? This is shit. Shit? Meet fan.

If only all employees could point out when it's the customers fault like that, maybe there wouldn't be as much of a problem with SCs.
