  • I hate people sometimes.

I volunteer at a cat shelter every week, and today was just....gah.

So I get in a little after 8 this morning, and one of the vet techs is already in. She's also setting up the cage in the foyer/entrance room for some reason (we almost never put cats in there, in the 2 years I've been volunteering, this is only the second time a cat has been put there.)

Well, apparently some dumped four cats at the shelter. We have ~15 cats in intake, and around 75-80 in the main shelter. We're full. And as we're a no-kill shelter, we're full until someone adopts, then we take cats in from the wait list.

The good news is, they left the collars on the cats. With rabies tags. From a small vet practice. The shelter will pursue all charges we can hit the owners with.

I used to volunteer ata no-kill cat shelter as well, and some one once broke a window to drop off cats... Sadly, some residents escaped and weren't found

Oh, that's not good, that's not good at all.

You're behind, dear. You need to hate people all the time.

The accumulated hate was weighing on me, so I try to view the world as a giant science experiment, into which I was accidently dropped. Doesn't always work, though.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, better dropped off at a shelter than dumped on a farm or random country road to fend for themselves.

That's still really sucky, though. I can understand why you'd be upset.

Indeed. Clearly hasn't been working with the general public long.

i wholly support the full time hatred; part time just doesn't cut it anymore.

i hope they nail those shits for abandoning their kitties; people like that deserve to be abandoned on a desert island with NO hope of rescue/escape.

At least they took them to a shelter, instead of just moving and leaving them behind, or dumping them out on a highway.

Three of my cats were shelter cats, including my recently departed Orange Bastard. When we adopted him, they told us someone had left him on their doorstep, and he was all beat to hell. They managed to nurse him back to health, and despite what had been done to him, he was a very affectionate kitty.

The way I see it is if you get an animal, it's your child. You wouldn't just dump off a child because you no longer wanted it or refuse medical care if your child was sick ( And I realize that a lot of dumb asses DO do this to their children and they should be promptly sterilized).

Quoted for truth^ We got our Kota at a no-kill shelter, he's a long hair wiener dog he's the third child and the family joke is he's also the favorite child because we all spoil him ^__^

I love No-kill shelters, the place we got kota from was so awesome! They started to give us the third degree when they found out we were military (who had a history of abandoning a pet when they moved) but once they realized we weren't the type to do something horrible like that they just loved us. being so worried about were your animals will end up makes them amazing.

hope all your kitties find good homes!
