  • Yeah, we just didn't want to help you!

My boss showed me this email that was actually sent to corporate as an official complaint. I can't remember the exact wording, but it was about like this:

'On Saturday I lost my purse at the mall. I kept trying to call your office, but you refused to answer the phone. I returned and backtracked my steps, but still could not find it. I probably never will, but it would have been nice if I had bee offered SOME help!'

Now, the mall office is CLOSED saturday, but this person didn't even bother to leave a message. She also never asked security if we had found a purse, even though that day there were 3-of us on duty, so she must have noticed at least one of us. Oh, and she never even tells us what it looks like, or about where she may have lost it.

We all just read it and laughed. To get a corporate email, she would have gone to our website, which would have also listed the mall email, OFFICE TIMES, etc.

But, recognizing all of that would mean admitting... GASP!... that it might be HER FAULT!
Certainly can't have that, can we?

      Yeah, really.

How dare you not have the decency to be there so she could yell at you, hurl insults at you, and more than likely accuse you of stealing her purse so that she wouldn't have to admit to being an idiot ?

Actually, once a lady DID accuse us of taking her car keys out of her purse, moving her car, and putting them back, because she was CERTAIN that she had parked in Lot A and not Lot C!

Because of course you were sitting in the office, listening to the phone ring.

Reminds me of the twat who left a voicemail one evening at work. She called about 20 minutes after closing and her message went something like "I'm sure there's someone still there, and I expect a call back tonight!"--said in the snootiest voice you can imagine.

Some people apparently think that business voicemail works like a home answering machine, where you can hear the person talk as they leave the message. But even if it did...nope, we weren't there to hear it!
