This guy comes into the meat department half an hour before closing. Before I could say anything he says "I don't care what the sign says every time I come here I get spare ribs for $1.99 a pound. Don't want to give it to me call a manager." I have never seen this guy before and if he comes in often he would have had to deal with me at some point. I tell him the price on the sign is the price with a tone that says thats how it is. I can tell he is going to make a big nuisance out of himself so I get ready to call the manager. As much as the managers in my store are spineless and give into angry customers, they cannot and would not change the price on a case of meat for anything. I finally actually look at the sign so that I can rely the price to the manager and the current price is $1.89 a pound, 10 cents less then what he is being loud and obnoxious about. I let him know and he's like ohhhhhhh. While I was preparing the price tag he kept thanking me for the hookup and I told him the price on the sign was going to be the price no matter what. He walked away with a look on his face like why didn't he ask for lower at least look at the price first. I know that he is going to come back and try this again with a lower price. I don't know why he thinks that we are afraid to call a manager or that we won't or they won't hold their ground (on meat at least). Maybe he thought they would just do it because it was late in the work day.

When I worked at the gas station, we had to raise the prices on our coffee (hey, it's to be expected, right?).
Anyway, there were customers that refused to have that. And I mean, this is how bad the entitlement mentality of these people were. They felt that since they shopped there every day and bought coffee or ciggs (or filled up gas on their employer's account), they could treat us anyway they pleased.
The first few times I had 50 cents thrown at me and was told "AH H'AIN'T PAYIN THE NEW PRICE! AH COME HERE EVERYDAY AND AH AIN'T PAYING 75 CENTS FOR A CUPPA COFFEE! YA GOTS A PROBLEM YE JUST TELL YE MANAGER!" I just stood there blinking. I was astounded.
I did tell my manager, in fact, I took names down. Remember, these entitled trashy folks shopped there every day and I knew who they worked for and knew a lot of them by name. I don't think anything was ever officially done about it, but I could not believe that people would just walk up, throw money at me, and absolutely refuse to pay the proper price. You really need to see a neurologist. - Wagegoth

Quoth Stryker One View PostGiven some of the stories I've read one here, I wouldn't be surprised if he was just playing the odds that the manager would cave.
There are so many spineless managers and corporations out there...it would be a roll of the dice that an SC would get their way in a situation like this."So, if you wanna put places like that outta business, just stop being so rock-chewingly stupid." ~ Raudf, 9/19/13

1. If anyone threw money at a clerk in my C-store, they would have been tossed out on the curb by the next customer.
2. Especially if the next customer worked for the same company, because they didn't want to get banned from buying their beer after work (or at lunchtime, lol) just because co-irker was a dick over a quarter. "I'm sorry sir, my clerk says that your co-worker was so ureasonably angry this morning, that she assumes that you all have already had too much to drink. I can't override her judgment call."
3. Oh, did your pump stop working? Maybe that's because my clerk hit "stop pump" so you would come back inside and pay up.
4. At this time of day, the local PD is manning speed traps. They'd much rather be chasing down your car over a quarter. They (and FD and EMS) think that only they shouldn't have to pay for coffee. Wouldn't you agree? (P.s., no fratching. I agree, and it was my store, so...)

Thank deitys the customers at my C-store aren't that bad about price increases--save for gas. They always complain about gas. We've recently raised prices on coffee, all fountain drinks, and all our warmer foods. It happens. People mildly bitch about how ridiculous it's getting, but they pay up anyway. Now, the last increase was the first of this month, and I still have people not realizing it and trying to pay the old price for things. Thankfully, all I've had to do is explain it, and they've coughed up the extra 11 cents!"And though she be but little, she is FIERCE!"--Shakespeare

Ugh, I loathe it when people come into the petrol station and bitch about rising petrol prices. It's nothing to do with me, we get emails from head office telling us to raise the prices. Of course, we can give SCs the email address of head office if need be, but somehow, they never take us up on that offer; they just prefer to bitch at the powerless cashier who can't do squat.
