  • I can't even think of a name for this jerk

One lady comes in every once in a great while with a pocketful of change to buy whatever menu item she can afford and a free water cup. I'm fairly certain she's poor or homeless or both. She always has the same clothes on, doesn't seem to shower often, and always comes at night when no one else is there. However, she is a very nice lady who always cleans up her mess, follows the rules better than most customers, and always asks my permission before taking anything (even if it's a cup lid or the free sauce pakets that most customers take handfuls of). I always give her a larger drink cup and tell her she can get whatever she wants to drink. Even with a green light to get free pop, she comes over to me and shows me her lid-less cup full of water. So all in all, she's a nice, honest women.

    Enter jerky man.
He orders some food to go and decides to fill up his pop while i'm over there stocking cup lids.

    JM: Disgraceful isn't it?
    Me: Pardon?
JM: *motions towards the lady eating her taco* Her. I bet you wish you could just kick people like that out, don't you. I bet good money she leaves here with a cup full of pop and her pockets full of stuff.
Me: Actually, I would never think of kicking her out.
    JM:
Me: She's a nice lady who never steals anything, cleans up her messes and is always polite and honest.
JM: Well you don't even know her!
Me: No offense sir, but neither do you...

At this point he no longer wanted to talk to me like a gossiping school girl, and instead stood at the counter acting like I just called him a nasty name. I payed him no mind though because I was too ticked off to care

I think you handled that well.

Lol thanks I was trying to let him know I wasn't on his side without being rude. I wasn't too sure if I did that successfully after his reaction...

He's probably just put out that you'd dare serve somebody dirty and disheveled like her.

As long as she cleans up her stuff, doesn't smell so bad as to warrant complaints, and is always polite and honest, why would you want to kick her out?

I think the reason she comes in late is because she looks poor and doesn't want to bother the other customers. And it's not really a nasty b.o. kinda dirty. It's more of a greasy hair and dirty teeth kinda thing

People like this guy really piss me off. They look down upon others to feel better about themselves and their "wealth".

All I can say is Karma hates guys like him. Someday, he could (and very well might, with his attitude) be in that woman's shoes. People don't think about that when they're saying those things though. Well handled on your part though! Bravo!

The worst thing about people like that is that they expect everyone to have the same elitist attitude. Well done for confounding his expectations.

I can. I shall call him John. Not because John is in itself a bad name, or that I have anything against people named John in general. No, there are two reasons I shall dub him thusly. The first is because one of my least favorite people on the planet has that name. And the second is because a john is where you will find loads and loads of wretched, odiferous shit. Which makes it a fitting name for this moron.

I hate people like that guy. At least the lady pays for her food and cleans up after herself. That right there probably puts her ahead of a large number of customers.

Why do people make nasty assumptions? Ugh.
