Smarter than the manager

Today a woman called and spoke with the manager claiming that she visited the store and had purcahses from both friday and saturday (both days I worked, manager did not). So she claims that she left her bags in the trunk of her car on friday and returned saturday and placed her purchase in the trunk along with friday's purchases. Well Monady (yesterday) she suddenly realizes everything is not there...so she calls raising HELL and I mean HELL that everything she had is not there. My manager saids he will speak with me and find out what happened. He informs me of what she has said and I say well noone left anything and if they had it would be behind the counter (we have one counter,one register). So he calls her back relays the story and she is screaming so loud that customers can hear it saying she will have his job blah blah blah...So he saids he'll call her back and tells me we'll give her a credit For what I say she didn't leave anything and she isn't going to get anything...I know this scam all to well...claim you left something and get something for free. So he leaves for the day and guess who calls back expecting something free! Well I say ma'am you did not leave anything I was here both days and nothing was left...She is dumbfounded and doesn't know what to say..I am extremely polite and also inform her that not only was I there both friday and saturday but Monday and NOthing was left because had it been we would have immediately put it behind the register...Now while talking to me she nevers mentions that I checked her out or anything and apparantly what she can not find we never even had...she was sweet and so on to me..Yeah I know people all to well...No way was I giving up this easily as my manager did...It's all how you handle the sitiation if he had just asked her who checked her out instead of assuming I didn't do my job correctly he would have never got his ass told off. Sorry so long.....

I'm a little confused, but why would she leave whatever she bought in her car overnight? And why is it the managers fault she's an idiot? This story really doesn't make any sense to me.

Where did she leave her merch -- in her car or behind the counter?

Initially, I was confused to, but after re-reading it, I think " everything is not there" means that "not everything was there", i.e. there were a few items she purchased on Friday weren't in her trunk Monday, not that everything was missing.

Wait, she thinks the store forgot to bag all her merch or someone (somehow) broke into her trunk and she wants the store to give her replacement merch?

She is saying that she bought the stuff got home and realized we didn't give her all her bags......That she had placed them in the trunk went out Monday to retrieve them and realizes that some itiems she got were not given to her...sorry for the confusion....And that somehow we lost her itiems...
