  • Shoplifter are creeps but these people, took the cake.

Okay on Sunday i was watching the door, covering for the EG break and two managers stand by me. This tells me one thing shoplifters. I go to Self-Checkout to ask the cashier if she knows anything and she says in a sotto voice check out reg. 46, i look and two young ladies with a toddler are stealing socks and underwear, what they didi was they pickeup 3 packs and only scanned one and dropped all three into the bag , they did this 7 or 8 times that I saw. They also grabbed bags and bagged stuff directly from the belt, w/o paying for it. When they got done the managers asked for their reciept, (we only do this with people we know are shoplifting, people we witness doing the deed) and the two young ladies dash off, now here comes the worstr part they left the kid behind , i walked outside wit h one of the managers and they jumped in a car and said go! go! Go! To their credit the people in the cars said no oway so they jumped in another car and took off. A CSM and our DG try to console the kid, who was, understaably upset. His mom came in and picked him up, she was atfirst upset with us because her "friends" said we detained the kid, but once the kid and we told her the real story she apologized and thanked for caring for her son. The two thieves were later stopped by the cops. According to the managers they had $400.00 worth of stuff, that they stole. Stealing is bad enough but leaving the kid. Damn. Oh, one of our CSMs knew both the thieves and one of the thieves actually left her purse behind, so they weren't the sharpest tacks in the drawer.

If those were my "friends", the cops would have a tough time finding enough of what was left of them to set up a decent murder trial.

I posted a shoplifting thread, called Shoplifting SC's, that you might find intriguing.

Sounds to me like they were on drugs and so desperate to get some money to pay for it they botched the whole thing and took off too hastily.

Methinks a call to CPS is in order, or will be somewhere down the road, if mommie thinks nothing of leaving the kid behind when she's out committing crimes.

If I read correctly, mom was outside and the kid went in with her friends the thieves, who then told her that the store had detained the kid when they ran out. When she came in to get him she learned the truth from the employees and the kid.

                This part confused me though,

they jumped in a car and said go! go! Go! To their credit the people in the cars said no oway so they jumped in another car and took off.
Was the first car they got in the kid's mom's car and she refused to drive off so they got in their own car? If they had their own car why jump in someone else's car? I hope the mom didn't know what her "friends" were up to. If she did at least she's apparently more concerned about her kid.

That poor child . . . what an awful thing to be a part of. I'm assuming since the child is old enough to tell their part of the story, then s/he was old enough to understand what was happening.

Honestly, all that for $400 . . . $400 is not worth a child's life, let alone the bad example the "friends" had set for him/her.

As for the car thing from what i hear they got in the mom's car first because it was closer to the store, but when the mother and her father refused to take off they went to their car which was further away. Idiots.

The OP said the child was a toddler. The kid may have known that his two caretakers ran off and left him, but I doubt he understood that they were shoplifting. Toddlers don't quite have a grasp of how the world works.

I hope the kid's parents find themselves a better bunch of friends!
