As a cart-pusher, I've had customers deliberately try to run into me before, and also customers who acted like such jerks because they think I'm nothing but their pet just because I work in Retail. Talking to the managers will do nothing if one customer made an attempt on your life. I told my store manager about the idiot woman that tried to hit me on purpose and all he did was laugh about it and say, "Wow, maybe you owe her money! hahaha!"

It wasn't funny to me, having to dive onto the damned sidewalk just to get out of the way of her car, and it shows the lack of caring that bosses give your employees. As for the police, I don't know. Sometimes, the police in some areas don't care much more than the managers do either.

Isn't the point of a SELF check-out that you check yourself out?? If one wants an employee to scan items for them, there's actual check-out lanes for that! He must have been trying to scan incorrectly marked items. One thing these scammers don't think of, though.... There are scales there, and if the weight is different it yells at you and requires an employee to come and clear the error. At least they have for the last few years, maybe not when this happened.
When the OP said that he couldn't scan the items for him the "customer" (I use that term loosely) started screaming about customer servive, so I think that he just won't use them because having to scan the items yourself isn't getting customer service.

Hey, are you saying that Bumblebee is neither tough nor manly?
He got beat on a regular basis and was not even human. So, yes.

**Sure, he was a plucky, never give up type, but still got beat on with regularity. Pluck is not toughness.

That link presupposes all of those jobs will be taken over by robots. The author obviously never read any of Issac Asimov's robot stories. His stores point out the many problems that can be had with a robotic work force, even with the Three Laws of Robotics.

First the mismanager rewards the ghastly consumer for berating you like that, despite a complete roster of witnesses on your behalf. And then the joker tries to run you over with his car, and they don't pull the footage or call the police? You should have called on your own. That was attempted murder!
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

After I wrote this story, I remembered an important detail: the cameras don't work in that area of the lot, and that's why they make the employees park there. Anyone who wants to park there is welcome to, as the only thing that makes that area of the lot different is that it is separated by, let's say, a "green" line painted lengthwise at the edge of those spaces.

Something that backs this up: someone parked their car in that area of the lot and died a couple months ago. It took weeks for one of my former CW's to look in the car and find the body. I won't post the news story publicly because it and my other posting history would give away who I am, but I'll link you to it through PM if you want it.

I suppose you'd have gotten in trouble if you'd let the carts go in such a way that he rammed right into them?
Yep! Despite the fact that he was trying to bulldoze me with his Beetle, it would have cost me my job if any damage would have been done to his car. My firing would have been preceded by a paid day off to "think about what I had done".

I have seen this happen, on a frequent basis, to other CW's. <Former workplace> was never shy about their backwards way of management, and corporate didn't (and still doesn't) give two darns about this--you know, considering even the market director once called me a dumbass to my face in front of a large Christmas-shopping crowd because I didn't know how to work a relatively-new piece of technology the store purchased, in a miraculous turn, about three years ago. If you can't tell, I have plenty of stories about this place! Where is the axe-grinding portion of Customers Suck?

Not where I used to work, if you catch my drift. Then again, they always tried to be the bullseye, so...
