  • Germs!

I was at customer service doing returns yesterday. This lady walks up a toy and of course she can't find her receipt. As I've mentioned before I can't do returns without a receipt or some way to look up the receipt. This lady proceeds to dump her whole purse onto the counter and search for a receipt. The longer its taking her the more upset she's getting. I told her that I could try to look up her receipt in the computer but she tells me in a snotty voice that she's going to find the receipt since I "needed" it so badly. Whatever. Finally she let's me look it up with a phone number. While I'm returning the item she starts to put all her crap back into her purse. I notice she's making a small pile of trash which I know she's going to ask me to throw away. I have no problem doing that if you ask me nicely. But of course this lady doesn't do that. As I'm putting the toy in the return bin she leans across the counter with the trash from her purse in her hands and puts it under my nose. I ask her if she would like me to throw her garbage away. She just shakes it under my nose. Fine bitch. Ill throw your stuff away. As I take it I feel something warm and gooey in my palm. I turn the stuff over in my hand and its a used tissue covered in snot. Not just like "oh I blew my nose and got a little snot on a kleenex" but the tissue is covered in big globs of green snot and huge boogers. I just look up at the women. She gives me a big smile and walks away. I threw the tissue away and then ran for the bathroom. After puking I washed my hands like 4 times and continued to put hand sanitizer on the whole day. What the hell is wrong with people?

I probably would've tossed it back at her in a "MEEPS!" look-like-you-drop-the-item-but-actually-throw-it way. And then looked at her and said "HOW DISGUSTING!!"

Some people just have no idea how to function as semi-decent human beings. Ugh.

Don't take trash from someone. Hold up your trashcan and let them put it in there themselves. You never know what they are going to try to hand you.

        EEWWW!!

I don't even pick up used tissues from my family, or expect them to pick up mine - if very sick, we take little trash bins to each other, lol. In fact my daughter once gave me the most lovely get well card about how she loved me and would do anything for me - and on the inside it said "except pick up your used tissues, ick"

To hand used tissues to a stranger to throw away is just SO totally disgusting, how do these people manage to get to be an adult without learning proper behavior in public? Some of the stories about how how horrible people leave restrooms, etc. makes me think that maybe those people are somehow not fully mentally functioning, but this woman is obviously just a sane, disgusting individual.

Whoever came up with all the water-free hand cleaners you can keep at your counter should be knighted.

        Madness takes it's toll....

At our registers we have those small trash cans and if someone wants to throw something away I normally pick the trash can up and let them through it away. But at customer service its a huge trashcan that I can't pick up. Either way I can't believe she knowingly handed me a used tissue.

Well, just be satisfied in knowing that she's snot the brightest bulb in the bunch, and that lord only nose what kind of divine kickback she'll get eventually.

...and with that, I gotta boogie.

I probably would have flung it all back at her and been fired.

I can. I can believe that she did it on purpose. Did she blow her nose during your transaction? That's just so disgusting...

Ugh, I have a friend who for some godsforsaken reason, saves and reuses used snotrags. She keeps them in her purse..Nasty. But even she doesn't palm her filth off on other people like that!

Methinks I'd have picked up the trash can and dumped it over her head.

Oh, that's just so wrong! Especially since she knew what she did. I hope you never have to deal with her again.

This this, so many times this. Usually it's parents who think nothing of handling their own child's slobber or snot and assume I won't be squikked out by it. Yes it happens too often.

If your trash can is too large, I recommend getting a plastic bag to have her dump trash into. Heck, even have her put it on a piece of paper so you can carry it away. I don't care if customers find that rude, there is NO reason an employee should have to handle a customer's trash.

I'm willing to bet that such action would count as assault, seeing as how it involved bodily fluids.

I would absolutely report the action to your manager or something, and get some record that she did that to you on file, just in case.

Once a woman asked me to throw something away. I said, "Sure." and held out my hand.

She placed in my palm a wad of her kid's chewed, spitty gum.

I looked at her in disgust and said, "Are you serious?" before turning my back on her, throwing the gum away and making liberal use of the hand sanitizer at the register. I don't know if she saw because I refused to face her again until she was gone.

You should have asked if she had a receipt for the tissues, or did she want you to look them up also.
