Not really damning, but a big hint something wasn't up to par with those PCs.
Big surprise there, (sarcasm) as HP basically shut down their own factories and are now basically rebadged Compaqs.

I had a feeling as soon as I saw HP trying to brand their own tablet operating system that the Touchpad was going to fail. The last thing that's needed is yet another tablet OS to just add more confusion out there. Personally I was giving the Touchpad until after the holiday season before HP would pull the plug on it. Looks like my prediction happened much sooner.

Also to whomever posted a bit ago about the Touchpad being useless in Canada the Touchpad will work off of any Wifi connection. Regardless... yeah good luck getting one now unless if you want to pay the "eBay Tax" as I called it during the debacle known as the Nintendo Wii Hunt.

Geek King...mine's about 3 years old, was gotten as a gift, and after the (recalled) video card got sorted, it's a friggin tank. I've been extremely pleasantly surprised.

I have been doing sub contract work inside some wonderful locations that a few were smart enough to put up signs saying WE DO NOT HAVE ANY TOUCHPADS, Along with answering the phone about being out of the touchpad. Then I was at a store that got a surprise shipment about 150 people in line for 40some units that at least 12 employees got first dibs on, haha I should have seen if they could have held one for me. although really, even if they port android to it i have no use. I feel bad for everyone who is dealing with the mindless hunters. Along with the fact they just go from store to store not realzing 200 other people already did the same thing.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

Its no different then when the Wii was hotly in demand or whatever "gotta get it for my kids or they'll hate me" toy during the holidays for that matter. People act like they are the first to ask even if you have already answered it for 199 other people. And of course that leads to the typical questions:

"Do you know when you'll get more?"
"Can I get on a list?"
"Can you call me when more come?"
                "Do other stores have any?"
"Can you special order me one?"

All of which especially with hot products usually lead to "no sorry."
