I am a seller on the largest online auction site. Before Thanksgiving this past year I was selling a very nice 1890 LeCoultre 18k gold pocket watch that I got for close to $300.00 at a local auction. If anyone knows these watches, they are built like a tank and are usually very easy to repair, which is why I got it for such a good price. Anyway, I repaired it myself and even polished the crystal that had a few scratches on it and listed it for seven days at a start price of $800. This is where my SC comes in.

Bigjimaz,
I am an expert on Swiss watches and movements and I can tell you that the watch you have listed for $800 will never sell at that price. The movement, if it is original, is older than the date on the watch itself and not as accurate as later movements. I will offer you $500 for it, out the door (including shipping) so you don’t suffer from having to relist it at a lower price when it doesn’t sell.
Thanks,
Sucky auction dude
I know immediately that he is trying to get the watch for a cheap price but I don’t pay too much attention to these kinds of things. I get them all the time, even on my lower priced (99¢) listings.

Sucky auction dude,
Thanks for the offer but I will have to decline. I know that the movement in the watch predates the dated watch case. That is the reason I believe it will sell for even more than I have it listed for.
Thanks
Bigjimaz.

Bigjimaz,
There’s no way in hell that watch is even going to draw bids for half the amount you have it listed for. Your fucked if you think that an old movement will bring a higher price. Where the hell did you get your information from, your dumbass brother-in-law? You had better rethink my offer before you get more fees tacked on to resell it.
Think hard,
Sucky auction dude
This pisses me off. Even though he’s an ex-brother-in-law, I have been friends with him for 30 years and he knows his stuff. The only job he has had since I have known him is watchmaker and repairer.
My reply:
Sucky auction dude,
I’m sorry. The auction will run it’s course as I believe it will sell for at least what I have it listed for. You can bid on it if you like, or you can move on to something in the price range you want to pay. It’s your choice. I thank you for your concern. I consider this matter closed
Thank you,
bigjimaz
Don’t ya just love having to be nice to these kind of people?

Since you think you know more than me, I hope you choke on the f**king thing. You had your chance asshole. I’ll be watching the auction see how bad of a beating you take. edit out a few more choice expletives directed at my lack of value and character.
(No signature this time either)
The watch sold for $1329.00
The thing is, Sucky auction dude made a bid of $1000.00 on it about an hour before the listing ended. I never did hear from him again.
