Dr's offices are our customers too...
I have a pateint come in with a doctor's order on a photo copied script (perscription paper). The order is fine, clear and legible except the Dr's signature so light that you cannot see it except for the first letter. This won't work, espcially since this doctor is in another city and not on staff with our hospital. I called the Dr's office and talk to his nurse who tells me that "I better let her have the test". I explain to her that we can't until she gives me an order with a signature that can be seen. She says that I have to fax her the origional and she'lll "look at it".
I faxed the order to her along with a face sheet with instructions on what I need and where to fax it to. 30 min later the order had not been refaxed and I called back. I talk to the nurse again and she tells me there is nothing she can do because the DR is out of the office today. I explain to her that without that signature the patient can't have the test. I get more attitude that I care to hear and she says she'll "do somthing".
The patient comes up to the windo angry about the wait, I explain to her that we're waiting on her dr's office to send me an order that we can accept. I understand, she has to use the bathroom and her test requires her to have a full bladder. I hate being chewed out because of stuff that other people do.
I call the office back after 15 min and the nurse is still nasty. She says that she couldn't do anything so she'll just use his signature stamp...
!! How hard could it have been for her to do that in the first place. She says that she tried to fax it but it hasn't come through. She snaps at me and says that the person who called her first needs to learn how to give out the number correctly. This sent me off the deep end becaue I gave her the correct number with insturctions on the face sheet. I tell her that I gave her the number and that it was the correct number. She gets huffy and gives me that "whatever" attitude. I have to repeat the fax number 8 times because it is too complicated for her to understand the first 7 times eventhought I'm talking as slow and as clear as I can.
So I end up registering the patient who treats me like sh*t because of her wait. I am sick and tired of being chewed out becaue somone else's stupidity.
