Quick one, but made me want to grab the brain bleach.

Our chat support allows people who don't have an account to come in. That way, if they have questions about our service before signing up, we can help them out. Unfortunately, this also leads to a lot of crap. Someone came in today and had entered their name as "Deadly tone" (not really, but close). I asked how I can help since we get a bunch of crap names... That's when they started uploading images of anime gay porn into the chat. Not all drawn, though. Certain...bits were photoshopped in from actual images it appeared. Of course, I booted them, but ugh.

It's amazing how some people don't realize -- or possibly don't care -- what they're leaving behind for other people to see. Over the years we had a couple of people at my former place of employment (newspaper) who were either downloading some stuff or not wiping out their histories when they were finished. I think one person was actually shown the door over it; a few others wondered why so many of their coworkers were suddenly dissolving into fits of giggles whenever they walked past ...

Pixilated, I was the accidental viewer of someone else's porn at work. Our server automatically saves all incoming emails and attachments. One program we use can scroll through numerous email attachments by using the scroll button. I was working on a customer issue and accidentally hit my scroll button, when suddenly I was watching bumping and grinding. Some idiot was viewing, sending and receiving porn vids and pics on company computers and through company email. A recently hired manager was mysteriously let go after that.

Mrs. IA's office used Mac computers. One day she had to resort to using an old Mac that was stored in a closet. It ran fine, but there were files on there from the former user, who still worked there. The files were personal ads he had put in a local gay newspaper.

I just can't get over the weirdness of adding photographic "bits" to anime characters. I guess it says something about me that that's the thing bugging me the most about this. I mean, how is that sexy to anybody? It would just look idiotic!

(My usual work-related run-in with porn is people who send me x-rated reference pictures for their projects. Not that common, but more common than it should be! I think I've shared at least one of those stories here already.)

On my second ship we were INTENTIONALLY looking at other people's porn.

it's amazing what shit people would save to their "personal drive" thinking that the usage agreement they signed (which specifically banned porn) somehow didn't apply to the "personal drive".

Not only would we search their personal drives for contraband data... if we found porn everyone in the shop would come over and look at it and have a laugh before it got deleted.

My advanced computer forensics class gets hard drives donated to them by companies so we can practice proper imaging and data carving. Our professor warned us that none of the drives had been wiped properly (after letting slip that there were some drives in the pile that had been donated by TJX after the data breach...those findings should be fun).

The other day, someone found some pretty weird porn on one of the drives; it was a company computer, not personal. There was also evidence of possible steganography, but no surprise nobody was really interested in dissecting the images.
