    I had a SC come up to me holding one of our markdown items, with the little sticker over the original bar code showing the original price, discount percentage and markdown price.

    SC: How much is this?
    M: *looks* $3.49.
    SC: But it was on the markdown rack, how much is the discounted price.
    M: $3.49
    SC: You said that, but how much is it.
    M: It is $3.49. It was marked down 50% to $3.49.
    SC: *blank stare*
    M: ** Ok, It was originally $6.99 *points to sticker*, than they took 50% off *points to sticker* making it $3.49.
    SC: Are you sure?
    M: Yes.

    I get out a calculator and show the SC the math. I know I should have know better.

    SC: *blank stare* Huh? But how much will I pay?
    M: $3.49.
    SC: Are you sure?
    M: Yes.
    SC: Positive it is $3.49?
    M: Yes.
    SC: And the correct price is realllllly $3.49.
    M: Yes.
    SC: *grumbles* Ok.

    The SC wanders off with the item in hand. Of course I find it a hour later stuffed on one of the shelves in my dept.

    Well, you know they don't read, and even if they do, they don't understand what they read. Plus it didn't match the "mystery price" she had in her head!
    When you start at zero, everything's progress.
