This guy would looooooooove my hubby. He's got 2 piercings in each eyebrow and three in the lip, and gauged ears. Sometimes old guys will joke with him about his piercings, but it's all in good fun. We've had a few stares sometimes though (he's really tall and can come across as pretty itimidating to people that don't know him) and the MalWart greeter ladies won't even look at us, never mind greet us--I think they're a bit scared

Piercings against his religion? Reminds me of what my mom did back in '67 when I got my ears pierced (I was 17). She went off on a 2 hour rant about how I had spit in the face of God by defiling my body, which is of course a temple. And she was Lutheran.

One of the editorial writers at my old college newspaper said it better than I ever could:

The body is a temple, but you are still allowed to decorate the walls.

This dude would love me after I get all my planned piercings (all along the outer edge of both ears, my nose, my eyebrow, and center of my bottom lip).
Wonder how he feels about tattoos...

I apparently offended one of our regular patients a few weeks ago. She remarked "Oh! You have a skull around your neck! What's wrong with you?!"

Mind, she almost immediately apologized because having it is 'my preference', but meh. For the record, it's just a skull and crossbones charm from black and white stones on a plain little silver chain. My Mom got it for me last Christmas because I like pirates, OK? Jeez. She said I need to 'be careful with that kind of stuff'. Whatever. I do wonder what she'd think if I'd had my pants rolled up to where my tattoo was showing. An older lady who is a pharm tech wonders what the same person would do if she saw her pentagram necklace (usually kept tucked into her shirt so she can avoid these displays of ignorance).

I used to wear a pentacle openly (don't anymore I associate that particular pentacle with my pyscho ex) and got comments. Recently, I mentioned my ankh and explained what it meant (ugh, such ignorance these days) I mentioned casually I used to wear a pentagram/pentacle. And she spazzed, saying I need to keep away from that. That if I associate with that type of stuff I'll go down a bad road. Then compared it to associating with a thief will make one a thief

My friend and her husband are practicing Wiccans, but they rarely are open about it except after they've gotten to know you really well, because of all the backlash and ignorance they get because of it. She especially doesn't want to have to deal with it with that particular customer.

I used to wear a pentacle that was gold wire inlaid in a pewter disc, the face of which had the cutest little butterfly of paua shell and some white shell. You could flip to which side you wanted to display. An ex roomie stole it. Maybe Ill see my way to getting some pewter, wire and shells to recreate it. Give me something to do over the winter =)

I had a woman and her husband come in to look at some jewelery. He took one look at me and said "that's disgusting". I was totally expecting that there was a giant bug on the wall behind me (eww) or maybe I had a booger hanging out of my nose (well, maybe not). He said that he was offended by my piercing and that it was against his "religion" to do business with someone like me. I said "ok" and walked off. He lingered around as if he expected me to apologize for my offensive appearance.
What a moron. What's disgusting is his stupid attitude, not your piercing.

People need to just STFU and GTFO. I may not find everyone's particular piercings, tats, etc. personally appealing but why make them feel bad by saying so? It's none of my damn business.

I agree. While it's not something I would do myself it's their business and not mine. And I've never been offended by it.

I wear a small diamond stud that I crafted nearly every day.
You cut that diamond a little more every day?

As for piercings, maybe I'm a bit of a sick bastard, but every time I see someone with lots of metal piercings, I think, "Man, it'd be fun to get this person in to an MRI machine".
