I had a walk-in customer show up when my shift started. She and her hubby are staying, but they have two kids staying at a family members house.
We don't charge for kids, but still, this point helped my annoyance.
Also you need to know that we are putting tile on the walls of our pool room. We have it set up so our guests can still swim and have fun while they work on a section at time. We have signs up to warn every one, but NO one has had an issue with this, since they still have FULL access to the pool and hot tub.
About an hour after the check in she comes to the desk.
SC: You know how they are putting the grout on the walls? Well we can't splash in the pool or we would ruin it. You should really tell people! I have kids and that why we picked this hotel. (Note the kids are NOT staying with them, but I notice a child with her, so clearly she brought them in to swim).
--- SC notices sign on the desk: I didn't even read this! You should really warn people that they can't splash the walls, we wouldn't have stayed here!
me:
Has yet to say a word
SC: Oh and the hot tub isn't hot at all! Can you turn the temperature up?
Me: I'm sorry I don't have access, but I'll be happy to call maintenance and have him come and take a look at it. (I should note that up here in the NE USA we have had 50 degree weather all month, and last night the temp DROPPED, when that happens i always get complaints about pool temps, even though its an indoor pool. I dont understand why, the temp never changes!)
SC starts walking away: You really have to tell people that they can't splash! We may want a discount!
Me:

Now look, if we had closed the pool, or were restricting pool use and this person hd a reservation from ages ago i could understand this, but to complain because you can't splash the pool walls? Why would you want to? The pool is NOT up against any wall, and no one has ever said you can't!
That's why he has part of the walk way blocked off, if a child jumped in on the other side of the pool a few drops of water MIGHT make it to the opposite wall, and if so it wouldn't hurt the grout any!
Also, if your child wants to have a splash war with you just make sure your splashes go the long way of the pool and you'll never hit the wall! Or at least not any part of the wall that isn't already finished!
Im just baffled by the fact this woman wants a discount because she can't splash the walls... which is the dumbest complaint ever! Plus shes mad at me because she didn't read the sign that not one other guest has missed in the two weeks its been up???
