  • The Manager's Response

Incidentially we could prove from video cameras that his original complaint was complete bs and he just wanted something for free.

    email from a douche:

I’m sure you don’t remember me but I sure do remember you. I will NEVER forget one year ago at your restaurant I was subjected to one of the worst experiences of my life. And it was followed by TOTAL denial on your part, which just magnified the issue. I won’t go into the sordid details again.
I was going to press charges but that would have cost you and me money. To save me money, I did the judge and jury thing and found you guilty. The sentence was I would convince 150 people to never eat there again.

To date I have 121 people pledged to never eat here again. So I have 29 left to reach my goal of 150 people performing complete abstinence of your location. I hope it was all worth it for you.

notes left by the golden gal (manager):

Dear Sir, In response to your goal of convincing 150 people not to eat at our restaurant, I have shown our surveliance video of the event to 150 people, and it took absolutely no convincing for them to all declare you a total jerk. And it took a lot less than a year.

Seriously, he thinks that showing it to 150 people will force your business to shut down? Is he like David T by any chance from Planet Fleabag?

No no no, to truly become David T, he's got to tell people not to patronize a company that isn't the OP's, but has a name similar to it.

And I'm sure all 150 people are doing something else other than nodding politely and hoping he'll shut up about his obsession/vendetta with some random restaurant.

This customer sure won't let things go, will he? Maybe the customer should grow up and move on instead of spending an entire year leading a pout fest.

This. You can almost hear their thoughts: "Oh god not this again!"

Then they just say, "yeah, sure, whatever, dude...." and walk away.

Heh, it'd be funny if you replied with, "hmph.. that's strange because we ran our numbers, even after opening the two newest locations 8 months ago, (which are RAKING in the dough, I'd like to add), and our profits keep growing. Are you sure you're actually doing what this letter states that you are doing?"

And seriously, who doesn't go to one place or an event based off of what one person says? Even if the listener stated their case to a person who has to hear both sides of the story, it wouldn't add up.

One wonders how many of those people just said that they would never eat there just to get this person away from them.

Sort of the whole "Nod, Smile, Back away slowly" routine.

In this situation...I think I'd agree with him, double-check the location "so that I can spread the word", and then make it a point to go eat there and see for myself, if for no better reason than knowing that he will NOT be there, himself. If it turns out well, tell all my friends about how much the place rocks, and how that crazy guy who thinks he's a restaurant critic is practically guaranteed to never show up ^_^
